I took the dog out and fed her--it's drizzling again--why couldn't we have had rain like this during our long spring drought!?
Now I'm eating lunch and trying to look up something online about my real estate tax exemptions but can't get an answer from the wording on the website--I really do not want to call them.

Okay, what do you guys think? I'm trying to figure out if I qualify for the senior exemption on the real estate taxes for the whole year in which I turned 65.
The wording is "you must have been 65 or older during the tax year in question"
Does that mean 65 during the entire year? Or during any part of the year? They don't mention prorating at all, so it seems like it's either an exemption for the whole year or not at all.
I guess I'll have to break down and call them. Because if it's any part of the year, I don't have to worry.

Diane, I googled your question and found this on the IRS site:

Thank you scholar--that's for income tax, I'm wondering about the real estate tax in my county, but maybe it's a standard way to define it like this--I was leaning toward this interpretation (which would be good news for me). It certainly makes it clearer to say "if you're 65 at the end of the tax year."
You're considered to be 65 on the day before your 65th birthday.
This part is funny!
My problem is that they have continued with my sister's exemptions even though the house was put into my name near the end of 2021. If the above interpretation is correct for my county, then I was entitled to all the exemptions she was getting and still am. (There are three--resident, senior, and low income senior). There was a period of 10 months between the time she died and I became 65. And, a period of a few months between the time the house finally got put into my name, and I became 65. But I don't think the number of months matters, it seems to be for the whole year or none of the year.
So if I had to be 65 the whole tax year I will owe money and need to pay it before more time goes by, if not, I will just wait until it comes time to renew the exemptions and then I'll send in my information to show I'm qualified going forward.
I know this is confusing, I've been trying to figure this out for a few weeks now, and when I contacted the assessor's office with an explanation they sent me a form that was for reporting that I was qualified for an exemption that I didn't get. So it confused them, also.
I'm going to do some PEEPing on the second floor, things are getting to look pretty good up here.

I brought the large trash container back in the garage. It is easier for me in the Winter months to just drag it into the crash and fill it up for the next week as I go unless i have company. In the Summer I usually put it out in the cubby home.
I also got the mail, sorted it and opened the box that came with it. It was a key, odds/ends, and phone bowl to sit next to the door. Basically if I am running in and out and am too *** to put keys back into purse I can drop them into the bowl so I don’t lose them in the house. In theory the bowl should stay empty as it is just a temp catch all to keep me from running around back and forth and then putting something down where it doesn’t below.
I am cooking up a batch of acorn squash right now. I just finished rice and brocolini (I love the new rice cooker with the steamer on top). So much easier to keep clean. My old one which i got rid of had this fancy vent that you had to take apart and scrub after each use.
Next for cooking will be the second batch of squash and then corn bread. I also need to get back to working on the fridge. Tonight I will just make up something simple for dinner once i check my carbs and calorie budget.

TML, when I lived in the condo I had a bowl near my front door for my keys, they lived there all the time, I never lost them. Here I keep them in my jeans pocket all the time attached to a clip on my belt loop, for some reason I feel the need to have them on my person all the time. But the bowl worked perfectly for the 20 plus years I was in the condo.
Okay, now I'm going to do a procrastinated task before I change my mind--I'm going to finally call the furnace guy to do the annual inspection. I was going to wait until after all the holidays were over but I will feel better if I'm at least on his list. He doesn't make an appointment, he calls the day he's going to be in this neighborhood because he works pretty far away, but I really like him and don't want to find someone else. I just have to always be ready and hope he doesn't call on the rare occasion that I'm out.

Phone call done, finally. As usual, he said he doesn't know when he can come, maybe next week.
I have a lot of dishes to wash, they are in the sink and next to the sink. I also have all my Christmas cards etc. still out, on the work table and under it, it will be a whole separate project to organize them and put them away until next year. Other than those two things, the 2nd floor (not counting the plant room, which I never count in the "baseline" description) is uncluttered and looks good.
I'm going to sweep some more floors up here now, and then start thinking about dinner.

I took the dog out and fed her, it's drizzling again.
After I last posted about the assessor's office I remembered that they do have an email option for questions, so I sent in my question, but since it's a holiday weekend I'm sure I will have to wait until next week for an answer, if I get one.
I'm going to make one more phone call, to the vet to see if they have the dog's CBD oil and what their hours are for the next week.
Then I will make dinner and be done for the day.

One good thing about being sick is there aren't many dishes accumulating! I had soup for lunch and oatmeal for supper.
I did manage to get son's jeans in the washer and I just shoved them in the dryer
I can't get comfortable. Time to move to the recliner

Get well soon ohblondie! I've been looking for a while at new bedroom furniture for our clothes - we don't have a closet so it's always tricky. It's so frustrating how expensive sets of drawers are, let alone with our very specific measurements and in a colour that matches our theme. All the ones we have at the moment are second hand,so that wouldn't bother me, but I do wish we had some that matched. In the service of biting the bullet, I've bought two cheap sets of narrow drawers to serve as new bedside tables. The current bedside tables were super cheap from IKEA. If we can get some clothes moved to these new ones and get some space freed up and some flat surfaces cleared, that should help a lot. They're a stop gap solution, but all new bedroom furniture is more of a task than I can afford right now.
Done: Reorganised sideboard cupboard 5 items set aside to donate A pile of glass and plastic put aside to recycle Several occasional items from elsewhere in the kitchen stored neatly to clear worktop space - placemats, charger plates, smoothie maker, gravy boat, milk jug, waffle maker Put away clean laundry Load of laundry Cleared air dryer Laundry from machine to dryer

ohblondie hoping you’ll be over it real quick. Yesterday: Called mom’s new PDP Ins. plan. What I thought would be a quick phone call ended up 40 mins! Turned out good, tho. Phone call w/ DrBro Another one w/ him & his wife. This 1 didn’t go so well Made a big mistake at work today. Ghah! It’s possible my boss made it using my computer. But could have been me. Then, another confusing situation in which I don’t know if I messed up regarding that one, too ! Ghah, again! Met DH at Starbucks after work. DH & I made a late night grocery run. Krogers not good tonight. Stuff not ringing up correctly. One thing we had taken a picture of the tag & ended up showing it to the Manager on Duty. Ended up having to take him to where the items were & then they honored pricing. (Over $8 savings). But such a huge time-eater. Emptied kitchen trash & replaced bag. Put most the groceries away except for a few things left in the car. Brrr. Cold out. Cd

Well I am slowly starting to rebound
I am up and showered and dressed, hair washed and dried.glasses on - could not deal with contacts
Bedding in the wash I have extra sheets somewhere.....If I can find them I will make my bed
DH keeps shoving trash in the bedroom trash can. He has it stacked and piled like he is putting 10 pounds in a 5 pound bag. I asked why he doesn't just empty the can downstairs instead of wait for me to dump it..So I handed him a garbage bag and said dump away. so that can is empty. I am going around the upstairs gathering dirty tissues and anything I an find. the bathroom trash caxn is next. Our garbage was picked up today and our bins are empty do it is time to fill them up.
I will admit i had to sit down for a few minutes. this getting tired bit is frustrating. I think eating real food might help as well.
Once the laundry is done I might wash dishes. I will only have to stand still to do those.
The sun is out - i wll def go stand on the deck to get some sunshine.
