Wow danny, you got a lot done today! Decorations are so beautiful but taking them down is hard because instead of the feeling of anticipation you have when putting them up, it feels sad that the holiday is over. When I used to put up a tree I would almost be crying while taking it down.
Reve, going back to work for two days is so much better than going back on a Monday! Hopefully tomorrow will go by fast for you.
I am now going to spend some time PEEPing everything back to where it should be, then I will start making dinner.

DONE: typed up a list of meals we have made with brief descriptions of ingredients and prep and printed it out
made inventory of food in my notebook
typed it up and printed it out (I want to make a grocery template)

Done: Washed up pans Set up shower baskets (a plan to keep the sides of the new bath clear and easy to clean) Put away clean towels Changed towels master bathroom Bagged up stairs clutter and took upstairs (one of those piles "to go upstairs next time you're going" but you always have your hands full!) Sprayed down shower Transferred contents of bedside table to new drawers Moved underwear, swimwear and socks to new drawers Through out several items, particularly expired medications Finally discovered a brand new shirt of boyfriend's we have been looking for for over six months!
More to do with bedside stuff and making use of the drawers I cleared out, but that can be a job for tomorrow. Time to settle down to sleep and hope I can - I so rarely sleep well the night I go back to work!

reve you could try small rocks in the bottom of the vase and fill in with sand or dirt to several inches above the rocks. Then arrange stems thru the sand and the rocks will provide support to individual stems. The weighted bottom helps to prevent tipping also. I love the look of a tall arrangement, especially when the flowers, greenery, feathers, fragile sticks, etc. look like they are floating above the container.
Diane, I very much hate taking down Christmas decorations too. They are so beautiful. I always take pics when everything is fresh and the sun is shining. I was thinking today it is kind of like ripping off a bandage. When you hesitate and do it slowly it's worse. Rip it off fast and the worst is over. I quickly take down something big with as little thought as possible. Once that is done the rest is a bit easier. I would have left things up til this weekend (like reve says the 12 Days of Christmas) but with the possibility of snow I didn't want to be working in such cold, messy weather. I'll leave the garlands and wreaths on the fence and gates and just take off the lights and red bows. The pine cones and clusters of red berries just make it look like pretty winter decor without being too Christmassy. I like celebrating autumn and Halloween and Thanksgiving in all their orange, red, gold and rust colored glory before jumping into the Christmas season. But I understand why people start decorating for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. It is so much work, may as well get full enjoyment out of it.
Inside our house we can have Christmas all year. In the basement rec room, around the fireplace and bookcases, eating area and kitchen we have garland with colored lights up around the ceiling and for years we had an artificial tree. In the main floor family room we leave all our needlepoint Christmas stockings with dogs and cats hanging from the mantel all year. On the mantel are framed pics of each dog we ever had sitting on Santa's lap or next to him if they were too big. DD1 keeps baskets of Christmas Beanie Babies and other Christmas animal decor arranged on the brick hearth. I treated myself to a big decoration this year ~ a rocking horse all decked out in Christmas glory. Under him, in the rocking area, are lots of small, old-fashioned toys and even the rocking part is fancy with Christmas colors and scrollwork. I really, really love it!! Having some things like that set out help us to keep the areas clear and not hoarded so that we can enjoy all that stuff. Now we need to keep expanding the clear areas (even if we have to set out stuff we love like stuffed animals!). DD1 and I are such children!!
I was too tired and cold to work in the garage tonight so I sat in the library and went thru a bunch of papers, tossing some and setting some in boxes for further sorting and filing. I have a shredder but found that it is easier to trash the papers with used cat litter. Nobody is going to go thru that stinky mess to search for anything. DD1 refilled her medium size containers with dry cat food, little bird seed, cracked corn and sunflower seeds for the crows and she shelled bags of peanuts for the squirrels. She still has lots of dog food kibble in containers for the fox.
We have another pile of clean laundry that needs to be bagged for donation. I'm surprised at how easy it has been to make decisions about many things now. It's like once we got going it's almost fun to say, don't need this, don't need that. It also helps knowing that this time of year people really need warm clothes to layer.

Picked up a few groceries after work Went to my mom's to fold and put away her clean clothes I bought her a pretty shirt for christmas but she wants me to return it because the plaid doesnt line up correctly - ugh - Another receipt to find went home and made the recipe DH was bugging for - it was pretty good - but I put too much cheese in I pulled out some clothes for work and set out some outfits. I am wearing clothes I was wearing 15-20 years ago. Pretty much wearing them once then passing them along. yesterday and today involved pantyhose and heels
I slept like a rock. I woke up and thought it was the middle of the night and it was actually time to get up!
Last night my cousin's daughter messaged me. Her daughter will be wrestling in a tournament in big city near here this weekend. I am a huge supporter of girls and sports (boys too - I support all our students) but when I see girls participate in traditionally mens sports - and do well - well I really get excited for the kids. Anyway - I might try and connect with them on Saturday.
But I must focus on the task at hand and that is to work!

Good morning!
Last night was one of those nights that I woke up every single hour, but at least I fell back to sleep quickly each time.
Ohblondie, are you wearing your old outfits to see if you still like them, and if not, donating? That's cool about the wrestling, I didn't even know they had girl's wrestling teams in school!
Danny, there was a time I considered leaving my Christmas tree up all year long, but I was afraid it would become one of those things that you're so used to seeing that you don't appreciate it any more, then when Christmas came it wouldn't be new. Plus, I knew it would get dusty, and how do you clean the dust off a tree without vacuuming up the ornaments too? So I didn't leave it up--not to mention that in my condo it took up a lot of space. People who saw my condo would say "oh, you left your Halloween decorations up"? Because I had bat beanie babies up on my walls. I would say no, I just love bats, they're there all year! Here my bat plushies just sit on my bookshelves, I never attached them to the walls.
I just fed and medicated the dog and will wait to take her out til she wants to go. I'm still at baseline, 3 whole days into the year! Today I will do some cleaning, and hopefully work on challenge stuff.

The handyman was here one time and commented on the tree something about he knew a family..... I said he could take it to them, I just needed to take one special ornament off it. He sent me a pic of it in their apartment completely put back together and it brought such a big smile to my face. Yes, year round bats! So cute in their little Halloween costumes!
Took sleep aids last night so got a very late start plus I am still drowsy. I'm taking some stuff to DD2's house today that she wants. And we will do some paperwork as she takes over more of my finances. I'm kind of straddling the fence ~ sometimes it is a big relief sometimes I am afraid to lose too much of my financial autonomy.
Way too many clouds this new year so far. I really need some sunshine!!!

Diane - not only do we have girls wrestling - this spring we are starting with a girls flag football team! It is so exciting to see girls have just as many opportunities as boys!
And yes - I am wearing these outfits one last time then donating them. Validation maybe? I held on to them til I lost enough weight to fit into them. well I fit into them! Yesterday I wore a beautiful wrap skirt but I tripped and almost fell up the stairs at home. I tend to wear classics that dont look as dated. I am thinking today's outfit might be more dated than yesterday.
DS came by the house last night and picked up the clothes I had washed for him. And proceeded to lock the front door locking me out of the house. Now I did have my keys with me - but DH and I usually leave the door unlocked until we are both home. And I had my hands full of stuff. I need DS to stop by and get more of his "stuff" out of the house. He is working a PT job for a local business - who is moving one of their shops to a new location, So he is super busy after work as the move has a time frame.
So I have a few items from the holidays that need to go back. I managed to find the missing receipts. I will either return them on my way home from work either today or tomorrow. One item checked off the list.
Tonight I will also wash another sink full of dishes and run a load of laundry. I will assess the state if the fridge and get it decluttered. Trash goes out tonight and I cannot forget....
OK - back to work!

Tonight is trash night for me too!
We don’t have wrestling for girls around here as far as I know but flag football is here. My niece was on a travel hockey team and school team which I thought was cool
Yesterday after work I took puppy for a walk. In the 30s and light drizzle. DD wanted some stuff from the store so I have her a mini list for the household
Was cold after walk so huddled under blanket on couch for a bit Had humble dinner Cleaned up cat food area Did dishes to a shiny sink Swept kitchen and hardwoods
Went to bed but woke up around 1:30 am for a couple hours. So I did not get up on time for work
Work has some ugly projects to painfully slog through. We are already short staffed and now someone announced they are resigning to move. A new challenge for me
DD is not working today so I have asked her to do some chores
I am going to use half my lunch at work to sort and shred personal papers. I brought in a big stack. I am transforming about 17 banker boxes down! Lots to go through I kept a yearly box. I over filed. I want to get to simple files.
So that is next!
