Slow starter today; did way too much yesterday, I guess. I am doing laundry. I reconciled the checkbook and it took forever; I usually do it quickly to the penny, but it took me much longer. Still to the penny though. A little more laundry and a few little PUPA tasks to do and I will call it a day. Carolyn called me and asked if I had eaten lunch while I was doing checkbook. I had just eaten a sandwich while taking a break. Her DD and a DGD are visiting from out of state and they were going out to lunch and thought maybe I would come too. I am very fond of all of them, but declined as I had, indeed, eaten. I am now invited over after 4 PM tomorrow when the other sibs are coming to see the visiting pair. Feels nice to be included and I will try to go. Everyone--have a good weekend !!! catcats

Busy busy day today.
Last night I had to wait for a while to be able to pick up rent - and I did. I then ordered and picked up pizza from one of our favorite places. The place is an institution in the small city where we used to love. It is a bit "sloppier" in the middle. It is fully cooked and I dont know how they do it but it is good. It was 630 or so by the time I got home with the pizza. After we ate we ran to the dollar store but could not find what I was looking for Stopped at a local restaurant/pub for a quick drink and ended up running into several people.
Today I got up early and picked up my niece and picked up a moving truck and we hauled a huge truck load out. I still have a grandfather clock and dining room set to move. And some odds and ends that take up so much space. The garage still has stuff in it - but much of it is to be heading to donate. I can deal with it carload by carload. My niece is so strong - she helped me get two filing cabinets to the local habitat restore. Those were two big items that I knew I needed help with.
I came home and sat and watched something on Amazon Prime. I just got up and filled the sink with hot water and started soaking/washing dishes. I heated up some of the left over pizza and now I am headed down to finish the dishes.
With all of the lifting and moving of boxes, while I was outside in the fresh air, well lets say I am sure I will sleep well tonight! After I toss in a load of laundry!
Tomorrow we will help my mom pack up the nativity set By monday I need to have all of the bags of clothing donations at my mom's apartment for her friend to come and get. I have some other non clothing donations as well.
We have monday off so I am looking at it as a bonus day. Hopefully I can wrestle the old recliner out of my son's old room and get that to habitat as well.
my eyes are heavy so off I go

Ohblondie, sounds like you got a good bit of work done on emptying the house.
And TT, as usual, you did an amazing amount done today.
I didn't get much done other than PEEPing, but I am happy to say that I have returned the house to baseline! I will try very hard to keep it this way for at least a little while.
Tonight starts the scary cold temps so I will now be worrying constantly about making sure the pipes don't freeze.
Good night everyone, see you in the morning!

Came home and it took about one hour to warm up!
I forgot to eat dinner so had late snacking.
Did the dishes.
Did some pick up out away
DD was off with a friend and came home early evening
We hung out in the living room -she had TV on and I watched football on my phone.
Cold cold cold here!!!

Love you & your dog bree ! I forgot what breed of dog is she & what color? I have this image of a black lab but I wasn’t sure. You are amazing to go in these walks in the very cold & snow! I wouldn’t even know how to dress! A cold front just hit here & we went from upper 50s today to the 20s by midnight & continue dropping during the night to 13 degrees. Tomorrow’s high might get in the upper 20s. 50% chance Sleet/snow predicted starting tomorrow & single digit temps by Tuesday. Then, should start warming up again. Moved laundry load to dryer Then hung it Another load in washer Moved to dryer & hung the hang dry things. Just read article put out by the City, I think… said not to leave water dripping if you have heat. Just leave cabinet doors open under sinks. Otherwise could cause a major water problem in the water system with everyone leaving water dripping. Hmmmm anyone have thoughts on this. We’ve always left water dripping… Cd

Good morning everyone!
Cando, your temps are very cold for where you live, I'm sure they are a shock to the system for you! Although I would gladly trade with you, the temp here this morning is 9 below and the "feels like" temp is 33 below.
I both opened cabinets AND left faucets dripping last night. Cando, I'm sure if your pipes freeze, the people who told you not to let you water drip are not going to pay your plumbing bills! Although, I think it also depends on how long the temperature is below freezing--that's why I'm so worried about this week, the temps today will continue for three days, and after that, a week of highs between 10 and 17, so we won't have relief for a while.
Last night I woke up at 3am and got up to check the faucets, then couldn't fall back to sleep. There were strange sounds, like a window would make a sudden "clunk" sound like it was adjusting to the cold. And there are high winds too. I have already put out a second batch of bird seed, the birds are all fluffed up and look so miserable. At least they can have extra calories to help keep them warm.
I will do my best to stay productive today although I will be worrying constantly about the pipes and the furnace. I need to at least keep things decluttered.
TO DO:
Call decluttering client Start load of laundry 10 minutes refilling animal food containers

Diane, I hope your home stays snug and tight with no problems at all thru this cold spell.
I FINALLY got most everything in the garage finished!!! The last things were to put away what was left on the staging table, not hard. Then figure out how to close the table. It is a folding one and has been open and well-used for maybe 2 1/2 years, so never closed and of course I had no idea where the instructions were. I turned it over and the instructions were taped to the bottom! Did I do that? Got the table broken down, folded and dragged into the family room. Swept the remaining area and pulled the truck into the garage. It was a bit roomier than I thought it would be. Thank you, Lord.
AND ~~~~~~~~~~~ all that work for days and days and backsliding and catching up and many, many breaks for my sore back ~~~~~~~~~ and the snow started literally a few minutes after I closed the garage door. Again, thank you, Lord!!! I feel so much safer now. Sounds kind of silly but the older I get the more scared I get of big storms and cold weather. What if a pet has to get to emergency care? No ambulance for that; I have to be able to get into my truck without brushing off snow and get right out.
The snow was falling in big, fat, fluffy flakes, so pretty. The first forecast was for Tuesday, then Monday night well into Tuesday, then squalls today with the rest on the way. We had a light snow when the Christmas lights were up which is always pretty and I got pics. But Tuesday will be the first measurable snow we've had in 2 years. And plenty of cold after that so it will stick around. We have everything we need so prayers that our house stays snug and tight too.
High winds have brought down lots of tree branches. Most DD1 has been able to drag closer to tree trunks. Really big ones will stay where they are and be cleared in the spring. I moved the other car so it is in an open space away from and falling branches.

Good morning danny! Sounds like your timing was perfect! Enjoy the beauty of the snow. I am definitely more afraid of weather extremes now, partly because of my age but also because I'm in a house now with no shared responsibility for taking care of things. At the condo there were 13 owners who all had to figure out how to take care of the building together. Certainly more squabbles and compromise required, but also the responsibility was spread out amongst all of us, and in a practical sense, the people on the board. Probably the only good thing about condo life as opposed to having a house.
The dog wanted to go out--I'm not sure how this is going work for a whole week--she walked about 10 feet into the snow and kind of stopped with her feet out at angles and just stared. After a few seconds I realized she was already getting frozen feet so tried to move her along, she acted like she could barely stand up for a little while. I brought her to the sidewalk, which was shoveled but still has a layer of frost on it, and she had her BM while standing straight up, then was able to walk over to a shoveled path and peed. She was able to get back to the stairs and walk up okay. If only I could make her understand it was okay to go on paper in the house, how much easier it would be.
