I am still doing laundry and working on dishes. I am trying to not have any dirty dishes but keep up with them each day. I am nearly there.

This is my monday - but Happy tuesday everyone!
Snowy commute into work today. It is supposed to snow all day and we should have a few inches by the time we head home. I almost called in - I hope I dont regret coming in.
Yesterday I dropped off 6 big bags of clothes at my mom's apartment to donate. She had a friend coming over who brings things to a local charity. I didnt get a change to get anything else over but the donate piles at my house are growing again....
While at my mom's I grabbed my mom's comforter and washed it I went back over last night and changed her sheets and made her bed. I brought my dad's clean clothes over. We had to wait outside his room while they got him up and cleaned up. At 4pm. Ridiculous getting him up and ready at 4pm. That meant he was in bed all day. We watched part of the Bill's game together.
At one point in the afternoon I managed to get to the grocery store. And I managed to leave everything I got for my lunches at home. Except for the bagged ready made salad. And a banana.
I also worked on clearing out the upstairs hallway. It was getting choked off and hard to pass through. so many things just got dumped there - so much stuff that just needs to be out away. Between the top of the stairs and the hallway I do have a couple of boxes to be tossed.
I finally remembered to bring in my christmas gift to the woman who works for me. One more thing out of my house (well three small things) AND a gift bag AND a pice of wrapping paper that was getting stepped on

Good morning ohblondie!
You mentioned that the aides didn't get your father up until 4--would they have done it at all if you hadn't come to visit? My friend who's now in the skilled nursing section of her facility says the opposite--she sits up in a chair during the day and they come at 3pm wanting to dress her in her nightgown and put her in the bed for the night. I think every single facility in the country is understaffed--partly on purpose to save money but also partly because no one wants to work at places that make them work without enough staff--so they can't find people to hire.
I woke up frequently during the night again, and checked the faucets each time, so far everything is good. One more day and night of extreme cold and then tomorrow the high will be 17! I have to go to the library tomorrow, and the cold should be okay, I will just have to watch out for ice along the way. I don't know if it'll be better to take my cart to lean on or not.
The dog did better on her trips out last night and this morning.

ohblondie for taking such good care of elders Well, We are having a weather event of cold temps here in Pensacola. It is 34 degrees right now and 100 percent precipitation. Question : Where's the snow?? I have brought in all of my plants and have located a cover for my Split-Leaf Philodendron that is planted outside. It is expected to "hard freeze" starting tonight and last 6 hours. My hat is off to everyone that deals with these type conditions that we Floridians consider uninhabitable.

Yesterday I did go back to bed, napped, got up, wasted rest of the day. Last night I went to the garage to check the snow depth, looked out the window and there was my poor fox, waiting for his dinner. I don't like to feed him when he is right there so I will put the food out at dusk this evening and he can come back in the dark. I like when the birds and squirrels get close knowing we will feed them but the fox and the coyote ~ nah, not letting them get close.
Today I did a three-way phone call with DD2 about some financial stuff. Brushed the snow off one deck rail to put little bird seed out. They were hungry! We got about 5 inches. It is powdery, so shoveling is easier. I shoveled out the area right in front of the garage door so there is traction to get out if necessary.

Hello def, oust and danny!
Def, that is really cold for you when you're not used to it! I notice that my house feels colder today, on the third day of this--that's why I wonder how people in far northern climates can keep houses running in such cold temps.
Danny, I think I would be so excited to see a fox I would be tempting it closer with food. Coyotes lived in the city where my old neighborhood was--and they definitely don't belong in cities--so I always felt terrible for them, thinking they must be really hungry if they ventured into such populated areas. I only saw one once although neighbors who were out later at night saw them frequently. I would never feed a coyote (well, at least not in the city) because it would make them hang out around people more. It's always exciting to see an animal you don't normally see, I was excited the other day because I saw a junco AND a starling at the same time among the sparrows eating the bird seed--they've both been gone for the last couple of months.
So, I've had an annoying morning--first I got an ocular migraine again--this is the second one in about four days. I firmly believe they are associated with stress although the research I did when I first started getting them said there is no known cause. Then I did a load of laundry which unbalanced the washer, so I had to stay downstairs in the basement trying to get it unbalanced while the washer kept trying to do the rinse over again. I finally got it, and while waiting for it to be done, I straightened up some of the random hardware items in that corner of the basement.
I did call my decluttering client also. Now it's time for lunch.

ugh - I forgot to save my post.
It is snowing like crazy here. All after school activities are being cancelled right and left. My meeting got cancelled - hurray. My basketball game got cancelled. Boo. (I was going to go watch the HS game - not play a game myself!)
So I have an unexpected free night tonight. I will choose a project to work on - one that I would not typically be able to do. Dishes and laundry do not count. though i do have to wash DS's jeans - I will put them in the washer then walk away.
I am taking the shelving units from my parents house. I plan on putting them in the current guest room. I will line the walls with hanging racks and shelves. My son;s room will be the guest room and the bed will go in there. So much rearranging. As if rearranging will make everything be smaller or go away. I admit I am a visual person and I need to see everything. For example, it was so easy to go through my jeans and get rid of the ill fitting ones - once I could see how many I have. And it is easier to fold them and put them away as there is appropriate space.
My big goal this week is to get the recliner out of DS's room and get it to the habitat store. then I can move the bed into that room. then I can move the shelves. A big game of jenga or something similar.
OK - enough day dreaming. I think I will continue to work on clearing the clutter blocking the top of the stairs and the hallway. And some work in the kitchen. getting things put away will help.
Tomorrow and Thursday are work from home days so that will help.

Diane, I only feed the fox/coyote (whichever gets to it first) when it is very cold out or lots of snow. It kills me to think about those poor creatures shivering and scavenging for food. On the other hand, I don't want them so dependent that they don't bother to hunt. I figure I am just giving them a helping hand. My friends with barn cats always fed them small amounts of food ~ enough to help them maintain weight and energy but not enough to make them too full to hunt and eat the mice. The female cardinal came around today but not her mate. I thought of you with your little birds.
I got the walkway, around the car in the turn-around and the main driveway cleared out. Kids have 2 days off school. There was time when kids would shovel walks for money. Not any more it seems.
Cleaned the dressing room and used a fine tooth comb on one of the kitties. She loves that!

I'm glad you got a free evening ohblondie!
Danny, if I lived in an area with lots of free space around I would be feeding hungry-looking wildlife too, I just don't know if I could resist during weather like this.
I've been working on deleting emails since I can't seem to settle to anything else--I will be very glad when this day and night are over, even though the high tomorrow will only be 16 (they reduced it by one) I think I will relax and feel like the worst of it is over. Although I will still watch the pipes, the handyman said anytime the daytime high is under freezing I need to watch them. I can just feel the tension in my neck and shoulders from these 3 days.
The dog went out again at 4, and I got the dry laundry from the basement. And soon it will be time for dinner.

Good evening reve--making decluttering a habit is a big success--maybe I'll be able to do that someday!
Good night everyone, see you in the morning!
