Thank you catcats, that is very kind. Besides helping me with decluttering, you guys on this forum help me in other ways too, by letting me know there are good people out there.
I did a quick "good enough" vacuuming of the 2nd floor except for the plant room. The vacuum on the 2nd floor is newer and holds a charge longer, the one on the first floor doesn't work for very long so has to be done in shifts, so maybe I'll try to vacuum downstairs tomorrow, a little at a time.
Good night everyone, see you tomorrow!

Well, thank you reve, that is a nice thing to say!
I slept later today because I was awake from 2 to 4, at least I fell asleep right away at the beginning of the night. The dog seemed like she wanted to go out but then changed her mind, so I'm waiting for her to change her mind again!
I started a load of laundry, and I did the first 3-minute vacuuming downstairs. I should try cleaning the filter, but usually if the filter is dirty the machine stops working altogether, I think this is probably the old battery. But, since I frequently can only work for short periods at a time anyway I don't really mind doing a little bit of vacuuming and then waiting for it to recharge.
I will call my decluttering client now and if the dog wants to go out I'll just have to call her back. I used to take the cordless phone out to the yard with us but now I need both hands on the stairs to hold on to the harness and to the railing.

The dog's timing was good, she wanted to go out just as I was ending my call.
I'm going to move the laundry to the dryer and do another vacuuming session.

Thank you bree!
plus I have a book!
That is good enough reason to stay in bed all by itself!
I did 2 sessions of vacuuming, plus I dusted the front windowsill which holds plants (of course) and the bookshelf in the dining room. Still one or two more vacuuming sessions to go downstairs.
I also got the laundry from the basement but it was a couch cover and a dog bed cover and I haven't put those back on yet.
I'm finally going to have lunch, which will probably be long, because I'm tired!

I got another frustrating call from my shopping friend--she found out some of the brand names of clothing she wanted, but they didn't have exactly what she wanted, she didn't like some of the colors, so after a very long call we ended up ordering nothing. It's so hard to do this when I'm seeing the photos but she can't see them. Plus, I'm trying to describe colors to her when I know nothing about the names of the colors they use for clothing. (I'm saying things like--it's blue--not exactly medium blue, a little lighter, but not bright, a little greyed down, but not dull...) Ugh.
Since then I haven't done much, pretty soon I will have to make dinner.

Hi ! Took a shower and washed my hair this morning and went to Mass with Carolyn. Had to then take to the curb a very large amount of recycling. I had missed the last 2 weeks due to bad weather, and also had a lot of deliveries, so there was a very full bin and many nested boxes. It was cold and drizzling; I was so glad to get back inside. Did the dailies and worked in my Math book for maybe an hour or so. And watched our Ravens lose the play-off game. Last night I awakened around 2 a.m. and couldn't fall back asleep, so took a Melatonin and used the computer while waiting for it to work. Then I could sleep again until 8 a.m. when the alarm woke me up. Wishing all a good week. lennon, thanks for starting this weekend thread. catcats

desposito Diane do those websites have catalogs? Even in this day and age, I still get a ton of clothes catalogs especially because I used to order for my DM and FOL who liked particular brands that specialized in petite or plus size clothing.

Phoenixcat, she does get clothing catalogues, and she's tried to order from them in years past, but she says the sizing on every company is different so you have to buy and return until you figure out their sizing. She has no way of returning anything now, and she also says they're so expensive compared to the stores she used to buy from, which are places like Walmart or Target. When I look online, I'm looking on Walmart for the brands she remembers, and also Amazon, since I have Prime and can buy her one item without a shipping charge. The fact that she doesn't want certain colors makes me think she's better, at least mentally--when you're really, really sick, you don't care what color clothing you're wearing! But every time I talk to her I just feel so sorry for her--she keeps saying, if she could only stand at the little closet in her room and see what she has. She says the aides are so busy that they can't take the time to help her walk there with her walker and wait while she looks. The physical therapist that gets her walking with the walker sometimes cuts the walk down the hall short because she's so busy, so doesn't have time to let her walk back and stand in front of her closet for 10 minutes. And the one person she has to help her, the guy who was her handyman and family friend for the last 30 years, has new grandchildren and is helping family members with all kinds of things so he will occasionally drop something off for her but can't stay to do much of anything.
She even says that she has a couple of clothing items that she doesn't know how they fit her, because the aide throws a shirt on her and immediately attaches her back brace while the shirt is all twisted and bunched up around her neck and it stays that way under the brace. They don't even have time for her to adjust the shirt before they put the brace on and run out of the room to their next patient.
The next time I talk to her I want to ask her to ask a social worker if there is an agency they approve of that let's you hire a helper just for an hour or two--most places make you hire someone for at least a 4 hours shift to make it worthwhile to travel to the job, and there isn't enough to keep someone busy for that amount of time--just to help her with her stuff that is in a closet and a dresser, both of which are not reachable from her bed.
