I've been thinking, reading ...contemplating lately . I've always been a procrastinator with a touch of perfectionism. I have discovered in my own life what may look like hoarding, may just be a pile of unmade decisions. A product of procrastination. Armed with this knowledge, I am beginning today with my "reverse procrastination" challenge for myself and everyone. I could call it Anti-Procrastination, but I think I am going to have to not just "stop" procrastination but reverse it. Much like driving a car, when you stop it , you put it in park. When you put a car reverse, you're moving. I need not only to "halt" the making of these piles but also use "reverse" the piles. Because of the existence of procrastination in my life ( I'm not a tenderoni ) Procrastination has me at a disadvantage. It will take prioritizing the difficult stuff and doing that often! I am currently dismantling the piles if anyone wants to join me.

Delayed decisions as the result of decision fatigue. It is a real thing......

In my case I'm surrounded by unfinished thoughts; things I started but life happened and I havne't been able to make finishing them a priority. They are almost all things that I want to complete. But I also have severe procrastination and disorganization issues and have my entire life, as long as I can remember. I am working on that. It's just been this past year that I found out that those issues are likely due to childhood trauma. But discovering that and learning more about it has made me determined that I will not be held hostage by my past. Onward and upward
PS if you want to learn more, I highly recommend The Crappy Childhood Fairy on YT. Be warned that delving into the trauma can make you worse for a bit; high anxiety and feeling some crazyness, lack of focus, ect. I can only do a small bit once in awhile

Thank you for that maryinaz I will definitely check that site out. I've been trying to show procrastination who is boss lately by trying to be early for things. Such as: Dr Appointments I feel I'm early when I can check all of them off early in the year. Also I've been trying to get my daily work done early in the day and 1 special project per day that addresses procrastinated items.

I've been decluttering in my garage lately: One shelf per day, rain or shine. It is a deal (deal?? ) I have made with myself. When I don't have any more shelves to clear, I will clear an area the size of one of these shelves I've been working on. It's been working so far and I need for it to continue.

Go def6 Go! Since I have recently been working in the house at least the path through the living room is a bit wider. Now some of my worst procrastination is paperwork and bill paying.... Like the money is in the bank but I don't sit down and pay the bills in a timely fashion.... Sigh. Before my life changed so drastically I worked a job where I got paid every two weeks and I was working with the YNAB program (You Need A Budget). It was great, in 9 months I had all the money I needed for the month earmarked in the bank on the 1st of the month, so I knew exactly how much I had to spend for the month. Not these days. A few hours a week PT job, SS drops once a month and if I'm lucky I can sell enough stuff at the farmers market to buy feed for the week... I really need to get back to paying more attention to my money and where it's going...

You are doing great job maryinaz I hope you do get back to having the money ahead of time so you can set up automatic pay if possible. Good luck on the paper piles! I will go through some and get my shredder ready. I have a special place that I put current bills now, a very big improvement.

I am such a procrastinator!! for me it seems to be related to fear of making a decision. So I stall and make it worse for me! I am working on it though I am in the middle of one right now related to my job. I also fear getting the answer of no ... so I stall. ugh

Me too bree I have procrastination on the workplace and when I take college courses too. It's everywhere! I would love to mentally be in the moment for once. Without all of the worries!

Procrastination beats us up on the daily and just makes our lives harder. IDK why I do it. I know what I need to do and I know getting it done will take the worry off my mind but sometimes I just can't get there.

Decision fatigue is real as well, but it helps me to remember that DD does not want all this stuff, and my indecision now, is going to lead to a huge project for her or someone else in the future. I have been trying some "reverse procrastination" as well! Good luck!

Thanks Ally I've had a heck of a time today- battling the clutter in my laundry room. It was just piled high with everything! I've been addressing my clutter everyday for a while now. Time to get it gone.

My laundry room is a total nightmare (but usable by me), but my living room is my priority now. Part of it have been fully hoarded for 15-16 years. I have been sorting through it, little by little. My perfectionist-self wants to salvage every penny, button, paperclip, pen, crayon, sea shell, spool of thread, etc. I'm trying to sweep up the mess and be okay with being less than perfect at separating out the "treasures"

Ally for de-cluttering your living room. I too " Go-through" with a fine tooth comb.... but need to make a wide path get clutter out and get it out quickly. When we get storms here in Pensacola, at a certain point all of our highways are "one way" heading North. That's what I have in mind for my clutter.
