Hi folks, I've been absent for a little while. I came down with a nasty case of the flu which wiped me out for a couple of weeks, right as I was heading towards the busiest time of the year at work. I went from that straight into our holiday, and now I'm back home, I'm slowly starting to address a month of neglecting the house. Hi Everyone ! I did a lot today, so things are getting a little better, as far as my home goes. Did all the dailies, took trash outside, and processed mail.
Reconciled my checkbook. Had to make another business call re Tim's stuff.
Talked a long time with my DD and later to my BFF in CT.
Did some laundry, and folded some linens and put away. Refreshed a vase of gifted flowers.
A lot of kitchening--washed and cut peppers from DD and put some into freezer. Cleaned and cut up a cantaloupe. Made a big pan of ground turkey with tomato sauce and peppers and Italian spice. Froze some, some in fridge.
Cleaned toilet. Did some PUPA. Wiped counter in kitchen. Unloaded DW. Reloaded with some newly dirty dishes.
I felt pretty good about what I did today. Slow and steady wins the race, as people say.

Congrats on getting your taxes done, bree!
she just did a big gleeful belly flop!
Wow reve, flu for two weeks, that sounds awful! I'm glad you're feeling better.
Catcats, that was a productive day, you'll catch up on everything in time.
I've been having pretty good sleep for a few nights in a row now--I might take a little while to fall asleep, or be up for maybe half an hour in the middle of the night, but overall it's getting much better. It's not really translating into feeling much more energy during the day, but maybe that will take a while. My knee still aches although the other parts of my leg feel fine now--the knee is really interfering with the weeding so I need it to heal. I would say I have half of the main yard garden beds weeded at this point, that doesn't even include the three in the back part of the yard, or the one on the other side of the front gate. So, lots to do, although I will be able to plant in the ones that are weeded once I put down a thin layer of compost. Even the compost should be done now, not right before I plant, and that's something I can do while standing up so maybe that should be my next task since we'll have rain this week and it will dissolve down into the beds.
Today it's supposed to reach 80.

I just went out to the yard for 45 minutes, it already feels warm because the sun is up. I did as much weeding as my knee would allow, then I picked up all the loose twigs, etc. in the back area where the tilling will happen--that already hurt my back, so I came inside. I still haven't checked the faucet again.

Sunday! today looks like it will be a gentle, sunny day for us. reve glad you are feeling better Diane you are always working away! ohblondie market sounds fun, this is a day in which you will NOT have the scary Sundays about work tomorrow! My tomorrow has some good things - my big scary meetings are done, Chaos is unexpectedly out of the office, i don't have any meetings. hoping for a good quiet day in which I can catch up after the craziness of the last several weeks. so far today I have had brunch, put away the clean dishes, and watched church online. I just did not feel like getting ready; I love leisurely mornings. there is an evening mass I could go to but that gets risky if I'll actually make it and it is complicated with puppy's walk. my plans today: finish my federal taxes and press send start and finish my state taxes and press send start and finish DD federal taxes and press send start and finish DD state taxes and press send...so yeah a tax theme! for federal I have to make one update, check one thing, then off it goes. my expensive state -- I always owe a little money. even DD with her paltry PT college break earnings owes state money! but she gets back more in federal refund so worth doing them yesterday when I first started my taxes, I had a moment of panic as I could not find any of my paperwork! then I remembered I hid a box of tax papers in the back of my closet as the pet sitters would be here and I did not them browsing my paperwork, who knows. I had liked the pet sitter, maybe a little odd but there were some cultural differences BUT I heard from my sis who stopped by that the pet sitter was asking her nosy questions about me .. was I divorced, widowed etc. Kind of creeped me out. ugh I have so much to do! but I am not up for a long list today. Here are my goals: complete all tax related work research pet insurance for puppy map out bills this pay period do at least one load of laundry for work week clothes make dining room table look presentable walk puppy - around 3 looks like optiumum weather here go to store -- I have been shopping lately w/out a list which is not efficient for me! running out of coffee! take shower and wash hair tonight for a kinder, gentler Monday morning I did not sleep well last night, part was me fighting sleep to scroll on phone! ugh ugh. So I am a bit tired. need to fight desire to go lay on couch and launch into the glory of taxes...

so yeah a tax theme
Bree, I have the same experience with taxes, I get a small refund from Federal but always, always have to pay the state!
My decluttering client said this morning that she will work on her taxes today and I said, "I wonder how many people across the US are working on taxes today" and she said "my guess is 50%!"
When I went downstairs for laundry I decided to start a second load, and I also turned the water for the hose on and went outside to check it. I cleaned and refilled the bird bath and water bowl, and no leaks. So I left the water on in the basement, turned it off outside, and I will check it a few times today to see if it's leaking.
Next I'm going to clean the bathroom toilets and sinks, after that I will stop for lunch and a reading break.

Good afternoon scholar!
My internet has been going in and out again--not all the way out, but so slow that it "times out". Sunday again--this happens on weekends and holidays. I have to call them soon to renew my contract, talk about a phone call I don't want to make.
It got to 80 this afternoon, it's uncomfortable outside and inside too. I almost fell asleep during my reading break! I'm not doing much this afternoon, other than working on the laundry and taking care of seedlings.
