Hello weekdayers! I have not yet posted this week. Diane - that was an interesting seed story. Reminded me of some dwarf pines I had at one time; one suddenly sprang (sprung?) a regular pine-sized branch; part of it reverted to a true pine. catcats I hope you get to see new baby! mylittlescholar belated happy birthday! danny15 oh sweet Emma I have been having a rough week, but i'll try not be too much of whiner! work is in a very difficult stage. I am lead on a project and I have to work w/someone who has evil intent, I know that sounds dramatic, but many people agree. I think they might have sociopathic PD? I am so near the end of my career there, I hope for three more years, but i was looking at jobs online yesterday. I don't know if anyone would hire an oldie like me ...But I am feeling physically sick from the stress of work, and I have BTDT so much at this point, I keep trying to remind myself I can handle anything. puppy is doing better. She seems her old self. but at her vet check up, the vet said some scary stuff. there is still a little lump near the gland, and vet can't tell if gland or a growth so puppy has to go back in for a more detailed checkup on sedatives. I really think that it is just the abscess as puppy is still on antibiotics and it was a big abscess. but the vet's words just sort of poured dread on my soul. puppy meanwhile is her happy self. but wont take her meds easily! After she refused cheese, roast beef and pill pockets and turkey, I tried the harsh method of pushing pill in her throat and clamping her mouth shut. She spit out pill and now mistrust me! but she is so eager to please she looks at me apologetically and so endearing. sweet girl. I have been doing dishes and cleaning litter. took trash out today. but I am so skatter brained from work stress - I forgot to pay a bill, called in meter reads late, and skipped a social event because my brain is full! I have been eating really really badly. yesterday I went to work so stressed and someone brought in donuts which was good and very bad. some cheap joy but did not need them one bit. also last night DD called me and I was so depleted and I know if she calls, she is in a rough spot too and needs uber support. it was a tough call but I think it did help her to talk and she was doing better at the end. oh I guess I am whining alot here. I have to go to some prep work for meeting with socio and just deal with chaos. I have another scary meeting later today , at my age nothing should be that scary but socio really is socio. I know two people she managed to get fired through lies. ok back to it!

Good morning everypony!
I am so sorry you are dealing with that, bree! I am happy to read about your concerns especially if it helps you cope. My vet in GA gave velcrokitty a long acting antibiotic shot, but the vet here does not use them.
yesterday was a bit of a roller coaster as DVD got upset when his expectations were not met at the phone store. I thought he was being ridiculous, but I was able to find a non-judgmental stance. I was disappointed that he did not buy the phone--cause it paired with the watch I got him last yer. Later I went into shopping spree mode, though. Pulled myself back a little. We went to three new thrift stores in the other city.
It turned out well, however, as my DF bought the watch I had given DVD! He had been thinking about getting one. So DVD can get whatever watch/phone he wants without any obligation to me. I'm tapping out!
The housekeepers are coming today. I don't want to count on them being here at noon, last time they came much earlier. So even though I woke up (too) early and would like a nap, I think I had better put it off until after they leave. I will have a couple hours to chill before art class tonight.
DONE: caffeinated updated log set up a fresh version updated $ spreadsheet
checked online balance checked account info checked email and did some deletions checked in to LC forum and caught up said goodbye to DVD--he is off to his monthly Master Gardeners meeting and then class
NEXT UP: take meds boot laundry
do exercises
what to wear? shower dress face makeup
ON DECK: prep for housekeepers
four D's review my April goals list

Welp I did something completely different. A whole lot of minor tasks that needed to be done to bring order. I'm at a pretty good baseline. There are still several areas/categories that need attention.
PROJECTS: - put gifts in a box, camouflage (box is transparent), label, seal
- gather, sort, declutter, organize toiletries (in at least three different locations)
- roll and clip new ribbons from "the bins"
- set up paint brush station (storage, cleaning, evaporating paint water, jars)
- go through DVD's photography and conserve what I can (boxes got wet and moldy)
- gather up new Tiki Room decor, photograph, inventory, and store
- improve storage for pots and pans
FOUR Ds - Da Kitty--fed, watered, scooped
- Dishes--put away, sink cleared, dirty ones stacked for housekeepers
- Duds--put away clean sheets, laundry collected and sorted, did a load of delicates, hung to dry
- Dinner--
DVD invited me to a garden tour on some famous grounds in an hour. Gonna rest as much as I can. Need to change into something cooler.

bree-You are not whining. You are recapping a very rough week and this is the place to do it !! We should all feel OK about doing that sometimes; we are friends, after all. It sounds like your job is draining you and it only takes one mean-spirited person to make a person's work life a living nightmare. Sorry that you must deal with that. Hoping puppy is OK and I bet she is fine. MLS--Well, I guess the watch/phone thing will work out fine since your DF is pleased to buy the watch. Things sometimes do work themselves out, don't they !?! My knees are much better today, not perfect but much improved. I have done all the dailies and cleaned the very bottom door shelf in fridge and wiped all the bottles, etc. Took down recycling again and trash, replaced suet cakes and brought in a delivered item. Just paid a bill by phone and I am not sure what to do next to make a difference around here. My best to everyone for good weather and good things accomplished and lowered stress ! catcats

Good afternoon! The handyman just left about 20 minutes ago, this day probably set a record as far as how much work I did. I was shoveling soil into the wheelbarrow all day long. The truck had to deliver it totally outside the gate, and there was so much of it--the handyman had to build a little ramp and push the wheelbarrow up and into the 10x16 frame to dump it in there, and it was really hard work, so I felt like I should help. Weirdly, I did get tired and sore as the day went on, but no particular place hurt more than another. I don't know how I'll feel by tonight or tomorrow morning, but now it's just that every muscle is tired and there is zero energy left in me. It felt good to help though, I have felt so pathetically useless lately since I have so many aches and pains, this was good. After most of the soil was inside the fence, he brought some wheelbarrows of it to some of my older garden plots, to refresh them. I first said I wanted to wait to see if there were weed seeds in the soil that I didn't want in the regular beds, but the alternative would be that I would have to wait a week or so to see what grew in the new soil, that would mean I'd have to be moving the dirt myself.
Besides all that work, he also took my two rattling porch windows out of the frames to tighten them, and he painted the outside frames with primer so they wouldn't rot. These are windows he really wanted me to replace altogether, but I can't afford that project, so he's doing his best to make them last. He will still need to put aluminum pieces on the outside of these windows since one window sill is literally rotting away on to the ground.
He will come back next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on another job he has. Once again, I'm loving the time between these days, they make them so much easier to deal with.
I would love to say that I can relax this weekend, but the roofing/gutter guy called back and is coming to look at the roof tomorrow, and I have to call Comcast by Saturday to renew my contract. So...the next couple of days will not be relaxing.
But tonight I'm going to eat dinner and watch some tv. I will have to make another trip to the yard later because even though I was out there all day, I never did clean/refill the bird bath and water bowl.

I did go back out to the yard to clean the bird bath, and I talked to my decluttering client, had dinner, and did a quick check of my seedlings.
Now, I am very much looking forward to bedtime!
Good night all, see you in the morning!

thanks catcats and mylittlescholar ! So I had my scary meetings and they went well! phew. I have five more of them ....so glad we got off to a good start. tomorrow I am set to work at home and have no meetings (shh) so it should be a good day to get caught up and be free of the craziness. And puppy will be back at daycare, so there will be a bit more peace in the house! After work, I had to pick up girlcat's medicine, then I had to buy some cat food and some new vehicle for puppy Rx. So I bought a rotisserie chicken and that had puppy take her antibiotics and her anti-inflammatory. The chicken worked -- well she spit out the pain pills but they are capsules so I put them in a cat puree treat. So we concluded puppy's ten days of medication, three pills in the morning and five pills at night. Phew! Girlcat is on two maintenance drugs once per day. so my little pharmacy will be easier now. took puppy for a walk. we went a little bit later. saw deer. puppy is still very enthused to see them but so much calmer than a year ago. there were no games at the high school where we walked tonight, we were a bit later. the other walk yesterday was so crowded because there were four baseball games, a huge track meet, one lacrosse game, one lacrosse practice and one flag football game, plus a softball clinic for littles. So there were many people about and puppy was so thrilled and a few kind spectators gave her some love while I warn "she is a jumper!!!" But puppy is so cute and so happy that most people can't help but smile at her. now I am all set for bed. did the dishes, cleaned the bathroom sink, swept the floor, have the animals in and I am going to go read and hopefully fall asleep. last night I woke up at 2:15 and was awake until about 6, then I slept two hours (as I had no commute today). but i am tired! I hope we all have a good Friday!!

Good morning!
Bree, enjoy your day of working at home today!
So, when the roofing guy's assistant called me yesterday to say they would be coming today, she said "if no one is home they'll just put the invoice in your mailbox". I said, I would like to talk to him and show him where the leaks are, do you know if he'll be here in the morning or afternoon? She said--no.
So at 7:15 this morning, the phone rings, they're here! Luckily, since I like to wake up early, I was dressed already and went out to talk to him. I said "you're here nice and early today" and he said "didn't my assistant tell you I'd be here between 7 and 7:30? I told her that." Good thing the roofing guy is better at his job than his assistant is at hers.
But, this is wonderful, they have already left for the day, so I don't have to constantly be looking to see if they're here. He said they'll give me an estimate for the roof repair and send an invoice for the gutter cleaning. I haven't gone down to check the mail slot since they left, they might have put something through there or else they will mail it, but this is such a relief to have the initial visit done, and so early too!
But now this means I can call Comcast later today instead of tomorrow--ugh.

So, after my last post I had this horrible heavy feeling of--am I going to put this Comcast call off all day and have it hang over my head? So I picked up the phone and called them. Unfortunately, their records show my contract is not up until May 19th, even though my calendar says 4/29. It's possible I put it on the calendar ahead of time to call early, but I always used to put the actual date down so I knew my last possible chance to call. I asked the rep where online I could find the contract end date and she told me, and of course, when I went to find it later, it's not there.
So, I have to call again, closer to 5/19 because she said "there aren't any promotions available right now". Which can't be true--what is someone's contract ends today--you're telling me there isn't a promotion available to that person? What if I brand new customer calls--no promotions? She also claims I can renew online, but I seem to remember going through this with someone else a few years ago and that didn't turn out to be true either. But, I know this is just the nature of Comcast and railing against it won't change it, so I will just call back a couple of days before 5/19, it's already on my calendar. It's too bad I couldn't get this taken care of today, BUT, now I can relax until at least Tuesday, when the handyman will probably return. When I say relax, of course I don't literally mean relax, because my to-do list is probably longer than it's ever been. But it does mean I have no one coming to the house and no horrible phone calls to make.

Hi Diane I totally get the comcast angst. My worst one is our utility; they have been billing people wrong and not billing at all (I called many times saying please invoice me, have not rec'd a bill for five months despite sending in meter reads) so I hope your comcast experience gets better! Are the roofing guys there? or did they just look at the leaks?
I have a situation involving my roof. I have heard a critter in my attic the last few nights. ugh ugh ugh. it is creepy sound for sure, but I think it is a squirrel. I have seen a squirrel on my roof two times. I looked around from the ground and I don't see any points of access but of course I am on the ground. I had a new total tear off roof put on about 8 years ago. I am not even sure who to call to deal with this, I check our local town facebook pages. and of course I want it humane and I am thinking maybe there is a nest of babies...
so figuring that out is on my list. access to the attic is through the closet in DD room and that closet is a tiny weird shaped closet and a mess, so I will have cleaning out that closet on my list first.
so far today, I have checked my work emails, fed the animals, took puppy to daycare (she was so happy as she had to miss last week), put away the clean dishes.
For my work list today set up five meetings write up notes from yesterdays meetings send important email review a document sent to me review progress of another project and send updates start a painful budget inquiry
for my home list do cat dishes vacuum (boycat is massive shedding) prepare a care package for DD and mail it go pay an important bill pick up some allergy meds
have a good friday!

Bree, the roofers left, they cleaned the gutters and said they would see what repairs are needed and get me an estimate. I hope you can find someone to help with the attic situation, maybe you can call any animal shelters or humane organizations near you, they might have suggestions of companies that will help humanely. I remember reading something saying that with some animals, if you just wait until their litter is weaned and out they will all leave for the summer and you can have any openings repaired then--of course, in the meantime you don't want any other animals, or rain, to come in where the original animal came in. That is my fear, something getting into my attic--because it's the very short kind that you have to climb up a ladder to get into, and I have never opened that little ceiling door--my handyman said it's full of insulation so I couldn't use it for anything even if I could climb up and down a ladder. And I have no idea if there are any companies here who would help that situation in a humane way. I did specifically tell the roofing guy today that there are always animals on my roof so he should check for any attempts to get in so they could be repaired.
TO DO:
Call decluttering client Wash some dishes Restock water in fridge Delete 10 hard emails

Diane you have been getting so much done on your house! I was thinking of waiting too but hoping no one else joins then. I dint want to open the door to the attic. It is a half door then you can stand up straight and climb a staircase. I have a primordial fear that I’d open the door to hundreds of squirrels!
So far got one meeting set up, checking time for the next

I’d open the door to hundreds of squirrels!
Okay, I truly am a crazy animal person. When I read this I thought "oh how cool, to see hundreds of squirrels! I'd have to go back downstairs and bring my giant bag of peanuts up and pass them out--fun!"
But I can return to reality, we don't want hundreds (or any) squirrels living in our attics, even if we do love animals.
I just went out to the yard for 45 minutes. I brought several plants to the back porch so they could start getting used to being outside. I did some weeding and cut back a lot of branches, since I have to start filling up the yard waste bin again. And I inspected the long plot on one side of the yard that I have paid no attention to yet, and am finding that the bind weed is starting to grow! Time to get vigilant about bindweed before it starts growing up the fence and the few plants that are growing already.
I did a lot of bending so my back hurts already--it's amazing that the whole day of shoveling yesterday didn't make it hurt but 45 minutes of bending did.
