Hi everyone! I found this site last night and read quite a lot of it. It was very helpful and I am trying to motivate myself this weekend.
The most helpful part was on the page that defined what squalor is - the definition of squalor that said that it was depression made visible really hit home. The fact is that no one really knows or cares what I am feeling so it makes a lot of sense to me that knowing this I find a way to visible express my inner state. Then by God you can't help but see it. It has an outlet. I also often wondered if keeping my home in this state was a way I was able to keep everyone at a distance in order to protect myself. I don't know how true that part is about me.
My house is currently at the beginning stages of being a 2 but it is not that there is so much stuff but that it is like this in every room. I am going to just concentrate on getting one section at a time done in the living room today. I want to try and ignor everything else except the little patch I am going to work on at a time. I just don't want to get tired and lose my motivation. Wish me luck!

Didn't realize there was chat and 15 minute challenges. Let me go investigate. I could use some external pressure! Thank you for the help!

welcome to the board the hard thing is that it all becomes a circle depression causes squalor and squalor causes depression and a round and round it goes but the good news is that we can get off the circle and while neither one cures the other * we can learn to cope and therefore helping usin both areas-
hope that made sense it does to me in my head but writing it out- is not so easy Hugs from Meme

Welcome, Grinxdor38 !
It was great meeting you in chat today, however briefly.
You can stop the cycle as Meme says. It happens just the way you are doing it, piece by piece.
It's good to have you here.

Hi Meme!! Actually, it makes total sense. I realize fully that one leads to another and on and on. It is breaking that vicious cycle that seems to take so long. Yesterday, I did about five or six 15 min challenges and it really helped. So I am back today for more!!

Big hugs from Florida! I want to tell you that it is very hard to get started but when you break through that wall or barrier or whatever that thing is thats so hard to break through, you will have a spring in your step and more clarity of mind to do what you need to do to dig yourself out of this. I wish I was there I would help you.
