...because I am so happy. My bathroom plumbing works. IT WORKS! For several months, there's been a leak behind my shower somewhere. Yes, bad me for not telling my landlord. I was scared. For at least a year, possibly close to 2, my sink faucet has dripped continuously. For a year, the pipe under same sink has been broken, so dripping water drips onto the floor (well, into a bucket that has to be emptied every 8 hours or so). For almost a year, my toilet wouldn't flush, so I'd have to fill a bucket from the shower or kitchen sink and use that to flush. All those things are now FIXED!!! I have a beautiful shiny, elegant new faucet on my bathroom sink. There is no dripping sound grating on my nerves! It looks out of place in my shabby, run-down bathroom (nothing changed or updated in probably 20-30 years) but I don't care. I am slowly working on making that darn bathroom cute. It will never be beautiful, but I think I can eventually make it cute. The pipe under the sink works. I can run the water for 20 minutes if I wanted to, no worries about flooding the bathroom floor. And the toilet - oh the toilet! I sat on the edge of the bathtub and flushed the toilet 3 or 4 times, just marveling at how easy it is. This is the 21st century and I live in the United States! I should not be lugging water for that! No more! I feel so good right now.

Congrats on overcoming a huge hurdle and getting the bathroom in working order! I'm thinking it CAN be beautiful! Just a little paint and decorating and you can do it!

Good for you! Enjoy your functional bathroom! Part of the reason I have made progress with desqualoring has to do with necessary home repairs, too. Maybe you should celebrate your bathroom's birthday a year from now.

Dear Mariposa, You have way too much tolerance to put up with that horrible situation for so long. That's fantastic that you now can run water with your fancy faucet without soaking your little footsie's ! If I were you I would spend a week in there glorying in the joy! Love,Laura
