I've been lurking a couple of weeks and decided it's time to join the crew here. I'm almost 60 years old, 50 lbs. overweight, have high blood pressure and diabetes (very achy feet) and feel like I can barely get through life these days.
Although I wouldn't describe my house as squalorous, I would say my life is. I really struggle with depression, anxiety, fatigue, and various other stresses.
I've been married 40 years and DH is a professional handyman....oh, and did I mention WORKAHOLIC? He is ALWAYS busy and that adds to my depression because no matter how I try to explain it he just doesn't get it. He's a type A and I'm a B. In lots of ways I suppose we complement each other, but in other ways our differences can be a real pain.
I am so glad I found this place. It's wonderful to be someplace where you aren't judged on performance! I love that we can accept each other just the way we are on the way to where we want to be!
Anyway, thanks for just being here.

Welcome, TexasKitKat !
Squalor comes in all varieties, mental, spiritual, and physical. We welcome anyone who feels the need to be here to work on these issues.
Please take or leave this advice, as you see fit. I'm giving it with caring, as I have had to work on trouble in my marriage, too. I think you need a marriage counselor, whether he will go or not.
It's good to have you here.

Dear Texas Kit Cat,
Hi and welcome! Sometimes our houses reflect that are lives are in an uproar! It sounds like your house is fine and you are in an uproar! (Well that means you are a little ahead of me , I'll catch up one day I hope when I get this place under control, then I can focas on what's eaten me. ) At any rate, come on in and hang around awhile. Get inspired as I have. ....and I must say....I think it is wonderful that you have been married to the same person for that amount of time, that's awesome!

Welcome, TexasKitKat. Hope you can learn lots of skills from our friendly community. We have more than one member who due to health issues has not been able to keep up like they used to. Others, like me, never really did "keep up", and are just now learning how!
