As you know I have been sorting and cleaning and also clearing out things of papa hubby's. But finally after realizing through my lawyer's help that it is now my stuff bacause papa gave it to me- I am now responsible for it all and now I can decide to keep or toss or store- it is ok now. I am not hurting papa hubby but I am hurting me if I do not let go. And it is also ok to take my time and do it as time goes by..... I can not blame papa hubby nor do I need anything to remind me of our 42 wonderful years. The lawyer said it takes about a year to make this transition in one's head. She does not charge for her extra counseling-- . Ashley has let go too so that makes it more pleasant for Meme as I do not need to hide the garbage to keep from hurting her heart. I have had a tough last few days but now I ''get it.'' Now Meme is tossing and cleaning and clearing her stuff for her.

Her talents would be better served in counseling.

You're still taking care of them after they're gone. Comfort yourself knowing they'd be grateful and pleased.

Thanks for your post Meme. I'm still dealing with this too, my deceased GF's sister gave me quite a bit of her stuff (and my GF had given me a lot things too over the years). It's all things I want to keep, but it took some effort to find places for it all to go.
A week or two ago I threw out an old tv antennae my GF had given me...it never worked too well, was covered in dust, and was just taking up space. It was difficult to part with it, but I'm glad I did.
