That is a beautiful home! I don't keep photos for inspiration but I think I would like to find some.
I am really into retro mid-century modern style homes (i.e. 1950's) and I think that would be my ideal. It is not minimalist but it is comfortable and not cluttered, with lots of clean lines and beautiful rich colors.

I think it's great to have images to set your goals on. Just keep in mind that those photos are not of "real" lived-in homes. Don't set your ideals too high; we perfectionists are very good at doing that and getting our hopes crushed. Shoot for a happy medium!

When we were doing a debt rolldown, then saving for and then building our house I kept an accordion folder full of idea pages torn out of magazines and the newspaper. It helped me look ahead. My "inspiration piece" now is not a photo file, but 3 little blocks of granite the size of paperweights that I have stuck in the "miscellaneous" drawer in the kitchen. Southerngirl--I love the "Save the Pink Bathrooms" website; lots of mid-century modern/atomic age design

Charis, thanks for the Save the Pink Bathrooms info ... I had never visited, googled, and found it! What fun! I love that style of interiors. My bathroom here is 1940's vintage and powder blue. I love that look too.

Wow, Royal, that is a cute kitchen. I really like your backsplash and the red storage jars. kerplush: This is how I visualize my garden (although without all the little knickknacks). It is not really possible, since I live in South Central Texas, but I would someday like a garden focused on blooming plants rather than on grass and (bless their hearts) live oaks. www.yardshare.com/myyard.php?yard_id=317

Do you ever keep photos from magazines, book, websites, etc.. to inspire you to reach your goal? I had thought I didn't have problems with hoarding until you asked this question. I am constantly searching for interior decoration inspiration (as our apartment is only half-way finished), and have so far collected some 2500 digital photos. They are sorted into folders according to a room they represent. I also have one shelf devoted to home decoration books and magazines, and don't consider that as too much, but as just right (for me). I am still so undecided how to finally decorate our living room and which actual items to buy when we go out shopping... I have several general ideas of how to do it, but they all float in my head, like dry leaves on a very windy day

It is not minimalist but it is comfortable and not cluttered, with lots of clean lines and beautiful rich colors. Me too! I don't have any of that style furniture myself, but its my favorite style. I know a couple of couples who have rooms in their houses furnished in the mid-century modern style, and I always really enjoy visiting them. If I had a large enough home, I'd like to have at least a room or two in that style, and keep my collecting-mania clutter in other rooms (or preferably on another floor altogether). I'm not one to spend much on furniture, but I do have a book or two on the mid-century modern style, and occasionally look at them and daydream about having a home in that style. I guess you could call those books my "visual goal photos".
