I have such a problem with clothing.
I take it out...and its on the floor. Sometimes I even have tons of space in my dresser and closet. But I just don't put it away.
My three biggest challenges remain #1) Clothing #2) Beauty/health supplies -- I've gotten better, but seriously how many bottles of moisturizer does a person really need?!? #3) Paperwork/Reciepts/Unopened mail.
I don't know if I even really own anything else! Oh..well books. I've gotten better about those.
When I clean, step one is to make three piles...one for each category, and throw out the trash...and then...urgh. It is just SUCH...SLOW...GOING.
At least when I declutter the kitchen/bathroom, I feel like I"m making progress. But the bedroom? Its a constant fight with myself. My spouse and I have separate bedrooms for that reason. That way, he doesn't have to kill himself getting to bed at night. I'll either climb in with him to sleep, or venture into my cluttercave on my own if I feel restless.
Anyone else have the same problem with the trifecta of clothes/beauty/paperwork? Argh!

Hi chakraverte,
Yes! I, too, find that I'm challenged by the trifecta of clothes, grooming products, and paperwork!
Clothes - I don't have many compared to most people I know, but I tend to drop them on the floor instead of putting them in the laundry bag in my closet. And then when I wash the laundry, I seldom put it away after it's dry. So I end up with a pile of clean clothes and a pile of dirty clothes on the floor. I guess I have trouble following through and finishing what I start. I also tend to wash the laundry very late at night. I guess that doesn't help either...by the time it's dry, I'm sleepy.
Beauty/health supplies - Yup. And as with you, moisturizer is the #1 culprit. I like all the different scents....
Paperwork - Oh, yes. I can't believe all the papers I had saved up. I was able to deal with most of them before I moved recently, but I can tell that maintaining is going to be a struggle....I just bought a desk and am trying to start some kind of a filing system to tame the papers.
So, chakraverte, you are not alone!

my clothing ends up on floor after coming off my body....waiting to go to the laundry...usually nothing unworn ends up on floor....but end of bed pathway out of bedroom is a mess....yeah it is a bad addiction....I do not use a hamper....mom used to have a shoot to the basement two stories down....I considered cutting hole in floor of closet and making a container in basement to capture clothes as if a shoot....but i rent this house and I am not about to ask...and doing it without asking is rude to my landlord who is not the owner and is a friend of mine that I hunt with.....I did buy saw to cut the hole....I had a old saw that did not work right...but I never cut the hole...I did also make drill holes to see where they came out in basement for the container I would make there....that is not the best place for the container either....so I gave the idea to the pipe dream catagories..... hugs bigtimetroubles

well, coming from a horse-racing family myself, I might say that I USED TO HAVE the Daily Double of despairing squalorous hoarding: books & music. Or, music and books: I don't know which came first. Like when you bet a Quinella...... Or, better still, running as an Entry: 1 & 1A: books & music. But, back to the topic at hand: clothes on the floor. Also on the chairs; on the doorknobs; under the bed; draped over the towels in the bathroom: yikes: I've used to have this locked up every way. I finally did massive clothes purging, multiple rounds over many years: I posted something when AT LAST I was able to fit all the clothes into the available storage. Bring out the bubbly and take my picture in the winner's circle!

If the clothes are on the floor because there is no room in the overcrowded dressers, it means you have too many clothes, probably. You have permission to toss them without guilt. Keep only what you wear day in and day out right now. Beyond that, you can just get rid of them.
To organize my files, I set up a new file box. Everything new goes in it, and I am working on the backlog elsewhere. If it isn't something that needs to go in the new box, I get rid of it.
I have no suggestions on beauty products, I only buy a few little things I use.
My addiction is books, though.
