One of the lessons I learned while papa hubby was living with cancer is that no matter who or where you are - life happens and things get into a mess- Papa lived in 3 different pallitive care rooms- one in the city - the one I made here(our favorite) and one in the local hospital - I had to tidy and dust and put away in all the rooms even the hospital ones had housekeeping- and nurses I still needed to tidy every day because things came undone. and once papa was on chemo I had to make sure everything was safe and healthy as germs are dangerous to chemo patients- I sanitized anything that would involve papa=I even bathed Dogman and made sure his bum was clean all the time. the grand kids learned to wash their hands beyond the bathroom. and the strange thing was that it was not hard to do and we kept every thing off the floor to make sure papa did not fall and again it was not hard to do--- but it never stayed done- and most things were repeat ed every day and sometimes more- like the bath room sink- and so on- I know sometimes we get discouraged because nothing stays done after we do-------it. and that is what life really is about---we cannot expect things to stay right........we cannot live that way. and keeping things healthy and safe is not hard to do either- it does take determination which I had-- I was determined that papa hubby would not die during chemo because of some thing I could prevent-- and he did stay safe and healthy- (not counting the cancer). I learned my lesson well and I have managed to maintain the health and safe areas. why? because I learned that I am worth the same care and love and to honor papa hubby in his death by making sure that if someone comes they do not say-- ''she sure let things go......''. and you too, are worthy.

Beautifully said Meme. You have inspired me to take as good care of my apartment now, as I did when my sweetie was still here. Untill they invent self cleaning houses, we have to do it ourselves. Every day. Sighhhhhhhh. 3g

Dear Meme, What a nice thread.Things to tend to get messy with life, but I have noticed since coming here I have gotten myself into some good habits and once they become habits they are easier for me.I have tried to be in the habit of making my bed each day and I noticed even on vacation in my suite the room looked nicer with the bed made.I did not have to do it,the maid would or even change the linens each day if I wished.Since it has become a routine habit it was no big job and it made me feel better. Now it just seems like the room is cheerier with the bed made and looking tidy.I have to do it every day, like you said things do get messed up but its okay now. Love,Laura
