For some reason I have fallen into a slump with my tossing and donating. It's partly depression, mixed with mega procrastination. I just HAVE to get back on track soon! I am almost at 900 items and my goal is 1,001. Why do I never finish things? I pay partial payments on bills, do "Some" of my dishes, and now have no ambition to finish my goal of de-cluttering. It's true, my arthritis is acting up, but there are more things I could do while sitting than paper clutter and watching TV. I need a kick in the pants! 3g

G- You are SO close! 900?!?! Heck I bet you can find 101 items easy. Sort your sewing box... for me it would be that or my hair barettes... I turn the tv on loud so I can hear it from room to room. I also play games with myself.."gotta get rid of 3 items from each room" Or "cant sit down until this bag is full and disposed of properly" Something to that effect. I can motivate myself with those type games

3g, I agree with autumn. You're almost there! It's not that you'll never get finished, it's just that you're not...quite... finished yet! I'll wait for your next post entitled, "I did it!" serenitynow..actually should call myself laughingnow- your emoticon is hysterical!!

Its ok 3G. You can be in a slump for a little while. You have gone through so much, and are working so hard right now. Sometimes we do need to take a little tiny break. I think that if you allow yourself that mini-break, you will be able to jump right back into what you are doing.
I wonder if maybe you are worried about "what do I do next?" when you get those 1,001 things done. That can be a lot of pressure on somebody too.
Try to be kind to yourself, this will sort itself out.

3G, could it be that you are afraid to finish?
Sometimes, we leave things undone because we are afraid to finish. We are afraid to finish, because when something is finished, it get graded/judged/compared to other people's done items, etc.
Are you afraid you will finish and look around and it won't be perfect/make the grade/meet the standard you have set for yourself?
This may not be the problem, but it is food for thought.
Sometimes, I don't finish because it won't be perfect, and I am ashamed of the imperfection.
Take a break, then finish. If you want.

Well, make it a quality slump. Wear something comfortable- eat what you want- really relax. You can accomplish some more stuff later.

I had slumps in my goal too and part of it is we are doing a lot and we just get tired- Blackswan is right- you are in grief and it takes so much out our bodies -minds- and souls. there is no time limit to make your goal, take some time to be good to your self and one day that number willl be the 1001 gentle hugs,

Thank you everyone. Guess I needed a rest, but I WILL finish! I have to do this, and when I'm done I will start over again. Perhaps I will start with a smaller goal, I'm not sure. Yes I am still grieving, and it does take a lot out of me. I'm going to bed now, and will post again tomorrow after work. 3g

PS; I wish everyone at work was so aware of my grieving process because they're NOT! 3g
