I saw an episode of How Clean Is Your House? where they used a spray of weak tea to reduce allergens on carpet. The host explained that the tea denatures the protein in the allergens.

(i don't have carpet, or curtains, or thorw pillows, or rugs, or anythign at all that harbours dust mites, but I could spray it on my bed maybe! doesn't the tea DYE the carpet brown though?)
sarthbur -ew gross, I unfortunately know what that is like all too well.

It's supposed to be the tannic acid that breaks down the protein. Just a very weak solution will do--no milk or sugar, unless you want to attract ants!

Wow you! Congratulations. Check out white tea -- actually colorless. just as strong and good. not really more expensive, don't think.
