I have the laundry blues. I seriously did break my toe doing the laundry. I got my big toe caught in a corner of a twin size fitted sheet ended up stepping on the other part and breaking my toe by yanking it really hard sideways. Of couse I was barefoot! Then the dryer isn't working so I hang the clothes on the line outside and the clothes pins keep popping apart. Then I got complaints about how much liquid laundry soap I was using. My daughter uses cold water and the really ultra concentrated detergent.I have always used warm water and powdered detergent. Hey, if someone picked up my clothes off of the floor, sorted them washed them, hung them up, brought them inside folded them and laid them on the dresser or put them up all with a broken toe do you think I'd complain? ***** it tomorrow I'm doing nothing!

Sorry your toe is broken. Did your Hubby treat it for you? Or did you go to the hospital? In any case, I hope you will stay off of it as much as you can today.

I'm with you, iguanamama. If anyone did my laundry, the type of detergent would be immaterial. Of course now, when Mr. Charis puts Rayon in the dryer, that is another matter......
I hope your toe gets better quick.

So sorry about your toe You should get it x-rayed. Do you have clinics in your area? I fell while on vacation in May and severely sprained both feet (got caught under the lip of bottom step at B&B) and dislocated/broke PIP joint of left index finger. Thankfully, there were inexpensive clinics in the area (no insurance since I had retired two months before ). The xrays let me know exactly what was broken and how to properly treat it. The clinic stabilized the feet with ace bandages and the finger with a splint. You don't want the broken bone to heal in the wrong position and cause more trouble/pain down the road. It is imperative you get this checked out asap because once swelling sets in, it becomes more complicated if a bone needs to be reset.

Sit down, put your foot up, and tell the world you are taking 5. Or even 10.
You deserve it.

Oh my!
lots of ice, and a ginormous box of chocolates is in order!
And maybe a fifth of vodka, or other lubrication to go with the ice.
And doctors orders: Stay away from laundry!

Toe update: My hubby helped me tape it and I used some Chinese remedies as I really don't have much faith in Western medicine and think that the only thing that Western medicine does sucessfully is separate you from your money. I know, I know, I am biased and unfair and my husband reminds me that Western medicine has it's place. I told him that it's place must be Washington D.C. because they spend days arguing about it. Anyway, the swelling has gone down and the movement is returning and I feel much better. Thanks for all of the kind words and encouragement.Hobbling away but still a political dissident!

Western medicine's place is in Washington! This gave me a much needed laugh today!
Good for you for getting your laundry done! And it sounds like your daughter will be doing her own laundry from now on!
Take care of that toe!

Glad for the toe update.
If your toe was truly broken the entire toe and part of the foot would be black, blue and purple. A sprain usually doesn't produce the bruising.
I have broken my little toe...usually chiropractor (who I go to primarily) just tapes the broken toe to the toe next to it to stabilize it...so the break heals evenly. It's important for it to not move as much while it heals or the joint won't function as well in the future.
If it's moving already and there is no severe bruising...then it was probably just a sprain. Excess tissue will be developing in the area where the sprain occurred so make sure you work the joint some once there is no pain and apply ice afterwards. If not done, the toe will not function or bend as well as it did before.
I'm not trusting of docs either they're too into giving drugs to solve problems...Glad to hear you're feeling better.
