Working today towards Project R, G and T. Project R: Sorting and preparing a shipment of china to Replacements.com Print out offer list so I can go through my boxes and pick out the items they are purchasing E-mail Replacements.com quote to hotmail account so I can open it on the laptop and have the list open in Word while I go through boxes of china Wash and pack the items in newspaper Buy mailing tape Have the people at the UPS store help me with step below, for which they were able to supply the tape Prepare boxes for mailing Project T: Finish hauling junk out of house for Trash pick-up Monday. The city's Prop Mainenance people happened to drive by while I was in process and they sent us a fine notice for having "junk accumulation" in the driveway. I am rather ticked off at this since the reason there is "junk accumulation" in the driveway is that I am trying to remove the "junk accumulation" that was in the basement and no way was I going to do all of this the night before trash pickup. Get the old end table up from basement Get the old hi-fi turntable set up from the basement Take out trash bags and boxes outside Go ahead and haul all this stuff out to the curbside a day early Project G: Still tentative plans for a possible Garage sale. Mostly because I just thought of it. Identify any possible sale items besides clothes Realize that clothes are really the only items I have available to sell Consider how many tables I may need to borrow to make this a reality Think about the feasability of having a "garage free" rather than a garage sale. I just want to get rid of this stuff, not make money from it, and not haul it all over town.

Hi, eaglesflight. Your subject title caught my eye. As another eagle, of course. I remember you from Squalor Survivors as eaglesight. I've often wondered what happened to you. It's good to see found your way here.

Thanks for your comments, ladies! I had been angling myself towards returning to SS and I said so in response to someone who had found the yahoo list and posted an intro there. In response, Lioness posted an announcement about the SS forums closing. I thank God for that person who found the yahoo list right when they did because I probably would not have felt spurred towards returning until the autumn when it would have been far too late. (I kept telling myself, the beginning of next month, the beginning of next month...It hadn't happened yet, don't know if it would have happened for July 1st or not but I'm glad I figured it out before then!)

Eaglesflight, If there was a number to call on that "trash accumulation" fine, I'd call it. Speaking as someone who has spent many years in the public sector, you'd be amazed how many of us have retained our compassion and common sense. They probably won't have authority to waive it, but they can send you the forms. This is government. There has to be a form for that, right?

mshavisham, I called the same day and she said it was all the stuff that appeared to be spilling out of the garage. I told her that I was cleaning out the basement on Wednesday and that what she saw was stuff I was preparing for trash day on Monday and some wood for a Freecycler to come get on Saturday. She said she would not drive by until Tuesday for the follow-up. Everything that was hanging around outside on Thursday is now gone, so we should have no problems.
