In regards to smell, can you stock up on plug in scents? I used these when I was desperate. Even if you use them just for a few days before the judge comes over. I don't know what the weather is like in NY at the moment, but open as many windows as you can, if it's safe to do so, just to let new air in, I know what my house is like after I come back from being out and the place has stale air in in, I try to keep the back part of the house open (never the front for obvious reasons!) and just let the breeze do it's thing. Also if your drains, sinks, loo allows it pour some "pino-kleen", or eucalyptus, or the equivalant and let it sit, and then flush and wash away and repeat. Will you have the same judge? I hope so, then they can see you have been working at it. Good Luck

Just a clarification...
If your counsel is not working effectively for you in that he is defensive instead of proactive, or that he is handling a case in a manner that you don't agree with, that does NOT mean that that is ineffective counsel which would rise to the level of complaint to the Bar. "Ineffective assistance of counsel" means something totally different (and MUCH more prejudicial) on a legal level. What you have are disagreements with your counsel in how you want to see him handling your case, and that happens virtually every minute of every day in some courtroom or law office. The Bar doesn't get involved in everyday disagreements with your attorney. They are far better handled the way that you're handling them. There are dispute resolution committees through the Bar for financial matters, but again, those have to be proven. You can't just say that you paid x amount and didn't get the result you wanted; therefore, you want some of that money back.
One other tip: When addressing your attorney, it is good to be as succinct as possible as to disagreement and what you would like to see done in your case. Three sentences is better than thirty three. They tune out. And the last thing you want them to do is tune out. You want to stay calm and reasoned and communicate in the "nicest" way possible that you want them to get off their butts and start zealous representation. ;-)

Petrossian, I think it is a wonderful idea to get involved in a clutterers group and ask for some help identifying the smell. I am so sorry you have to deal with this. My best to you.
