Hi all --
just a quick note to say that I am back from vacation. I'm slowly adjusting to life in the "real world."
my small place looked a lot more cluttered than I remembered it when I got back -- very depressing. When I was away I had visions of coming back home and rolling up my sleeves and tackling everything efficiently and energetically. This morning I lay in bed and truly did not know where to start, it was so overwhelming.
I've had some deadlines and personal matters to attend to. I still need to do a lot of important paperwork, one job application, and a couple of articles. Not to mention some gardening. So the dilemma is do I do that first, or clean/declutter first or a combination. My perfectionism won't let me make a mistake in the priorities I assign all these tasks. So I end up depressed and a bit paralyzed.
But I will not -- I repeat, will not -- give up on the goal of having a friendly, habitable place!
I'm off to a friend's so we can go walking. I will take something which has been on my floor for months waiting for me to return it because it does not work properly. (Wish me luck at the store!) A step at a time, eh?

WSS-It's tough re-acclimating after a vacation. I always want the fun to go on and on! Take advantage of your renewed spirit to tackle the things you need to do....I know you can get back in the swing! Good luck!

WSS, it is overwhelming when we look at the big picture of all the projects we want done yesterday.
If it works for you, break it into segments. Spend 15 minutes weeding the garden, then 15 cleaning in one room, then 15 minutes of paperwork, then a 15 minute break. This can be repeated as often as needed. Helps you get started in all areas without feeling you are neglecting anything. Also, you know you will be getting back to that task, and in what time frame.
I'm glad you had a nice vacation, and I know you can do this!
