I've converted to magic clothes hangers - "velvet" hangers as they are called. I'm thrilled to discover they really do work - they take up much less space than bulky coat hangers. They are a bit pricey, though you can shop around (I first saw them advertised on a shopping channel) but I've just realised that thin wire hangers are just as space-saving so that's a cheap alternative. The difference is that you can't hang heavy items like coats on a bendy wire hanger, but you can on a "magic" velvet hanger because they are quite strong. I'm only using them on clothes I really want to keep though (not the "clutter" clothes mountain) - they're too much of an investment to waste on cluttery clothes. When I saw how much extra storage space the new hangers created for me on a crammed coat rail I just had to tell the world!

I saw them in TKMaxx, and I was tempted, but my do-not-buy-stuff-you-don't-need filter came on and I left them reluctantly. But they had loads, in different styles and colours at attractive prices, for those of you who do actulaly need more hangers. I was sorely tempted by a set in lime green.
