Hi wantinmore westsidestory! I took forever to post, stopped, read some bills and made a phone call before I was done, so I missed you both. Yep, I have a serger. Funny thing is, I got it for Christmas many years ago, and was so cluttered and disorganized I never got it set up. For years! It was an unexected gift, and I was at a low point in my life---you know when you tell yourself "I'll get around to that after I get my act together..." Anyhow, the serger is out of it's box now, and has been for a few months now. You know what they say about clutter and squalor keeping you from doing waht you really want to do....it's true. Baby steps are working for me, and I'm using my new (to me!) toy a lot now. Guess I'm a late bloomer or something. Time to pick up my kiddo at the bus stop now. Off I go...

Laughing lark - good job! I just used a serger for the first time the other day and I had never seen so much sewing mess in my life! WS - yay for bills! Hypatia - good luck with the kiddos!
Thanks everyone for the good wishes. I'm sure you've noticed, I can be really negative at times if I'm frustrated, and somehow even though things are still good and messed up here, I feel a lot better.
TaDas (interestingly most weren't on the to do list but they were important) 1. Bought Renter's Insurance as I realized I still hadn't done that. Now if something catastrophic happens I'm covered enough to replace everything I own. (I'll still be upset, just not broke and upset). Turns out it'll only cost me $10 a month! 2. Paid off the credit card. I realized even though it wasn't in the budget this month, it was silly to have money in savings and be accruing interest on the credit card because i was scared to touch savings. It is now paid and I am (to my knowledge) 100% debt free other than the fact I stretch renters insurance/auto insurance out evenly over every month of the plans. 3. Cleaned out Purse and Backpack
Still working on the rest of the work todo list.

Great job SBTM!!! Paying off a credit card is a HUGE accomplishment. I know what you mean about touching your savings. I have made some not too smart decisions financially just because of that .. Westside...it sounds like you've been busy being a good friend. I think that's WAY more important than any type of house work...btw...I, too, love chinese food, but Schwans is a food order/delivery service...usually premade, frozen, not so good for you stuff. It is convenient though (and the Schwan man is a hottie ) so I sometimes order from them. Good for you, laughinglark, for using your "new" serger Tadas.. put laundry away made bed thought about vacuuming, but decided to take kiddos to the pool instead.. Todos... Go to pool vacuum bedroom take something out for dinner

Fantastic finacial steps, stressedbythemess! WTG!
No worries, laughinglark -- same thing happens to me all the time. For some reason I frequently have a hard time coming up with TODO number three. Glad you're in a place now where you can use and enjoy the serger!
ETA: To prove my point, wantinmore hit send nanoseconds before I did. ...embarassed face... I must have read your food delivery service as the Chinese regional food Schezuan which I can never spell correctly myself. Glad you're taking care of yourself by making time for pool with kiddies rather than slaving over a hot stove/crockpot/grill etc.
TADAs: 1. Made phone call about yucky Important Paperwork and found it wasn't as bad as I had thought 2. Instituted new method of storing colored paper for crafts which reduces visual clutter 3. Went through the rest of the receipts and entered them on spending log -- receipts are now in recycling.
TODOs: 1. Go to friend's to help with lunch 2. Go shopping afterwards 3. Go to MD appointment.
Keep up the good work, all!

Laughinglark - I got it from the Heloise thread in the general forum. Microwave a bowl of water with a lemon in it for two minutes, repeat as needed. It softens the encrusted gunk so you can just wipe it right off. It really works! The sides and bottom look great. It'll take another couple of rounds to get the top clean, though. I couldn't get the back of stuffed animals done before naptime, but I have been awfully productive. Ta da! 1) Took all the trash I'd accumulated out 2) Stowed cross stitch stuff (temporarily) in the girls' room 3) boxed up three heavy winter coats (this is Georgia, for pete's sake) to be sold 4) moved the clothes hanging in the closet around... girls stuff is now hung over the dresser, because it fits. 5) Cleaned out the bottom part of the closet, can actually see the floor there! (Where did all that red hair come from?) To dos: Whatever I come across next. .
