We are on a lunch break so I thought I'd check in. The carport is CLEANED OUT!!!! I was a bit embarrassed - they found a ton of Black Widow spiders (live ones) and want to call in an exterminator. Next we are going to begin the spare bedroom (turning it into a craft room) and the kitchen. The ladies are nice and friendly - they've pushed me a little bit at times, but for the most part I am ready to get rid of a ton of stuff. Thank you for sending positive vibes and mojo! I am using every bit of it.

Okay..found pics. (Have you ever had the experience of looking for something again and AGAIN and then coming back to it and it was there ALL ALONG!?!) Who says poltergeists don't mess with your mind? I agree with the poster who said that it isn't so much stuff as it is chaotic. Chronic disorganization and decisions..many a downfall. Lucky you for 4 days of expert help and opinions!

Things are going very well. Thank you ALL for such wonderful support! Working with the organizer has been much easier than I expected. I guess I was "ready" vs. being in an urgent situation and forced to clean up/out. While I'm doing the work during the day I don't feel overloaded with stress or anxiety, but by the end of the day I am exhausted......so, I'm more stressed about it than I realize, but dealing with it okay. I'll try to post pics tomorrow. The organizer will be here through Thursday, so I need to get pics taken as the rooms are finished. I have the "before" photos and don't really want to take "during" photos - the less mess, the better. I'm am truly learning how much I don't know about organizing.

Hi all -- I've missed you so much! I've been busy, but in a good way. Working with the organizer has been such a wonderful experience. I am beginning to reclaim my space and turning the house into a home. It is so freeing. We worked M-Th and a couple of hours today. We got about 2/3 of the downstairs done and the organizer will be back the week of 11/16. I'm not quite ready to post "after" photos - none of the rooms are quite ready. We still have some bits & pieces in the nearly finished rooms and one that hasn't been started. Then we tackle the upstairs, which is really just a finished attic. I believe I have some photos of the carport from before the 800-GOT-JUNK folks came. We filled 1.5 loads! I'm very tired and feel like I'm coming down with a cold. This weekend will probably be spent resting and doing a bit of laundry. The organizer left me with some homework to do before she returns - I have about a dozen boxes to sort/purge and a mountain of laundry. The dark cloud of chaos isn't nearly as dark as it was.

You must feel so relieved sporadic. I'm so happy for you! I was thinking of getting them for the garage opposed to renting a dumpster. May I ask if it's much different than the cost of renting a dumpster? It may be worth the cost for me to do it that way so my DD doesn't have to be tied up helping me since she has to travel to and from work quite a distance every day. Once I get the garage done I can use some of the space for my snow blower so I don't have to plow throw the snow to my shed. This area gets some nasty snow storms at times. Hugs SNM

Hugs SNM Here is a link to the loaded carport of stuff I purged: takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pics&action=display&thread=7375&page=2The 800-GOT-JUNK people are more expensive than renting a dumpster, but they do more for you. They will take stuff to the recycling center, they will take specific stuff to donate to the charity of your choice, they take care of any HAZMAT disposals, and, of course, the trash. They were very prompt and courteous. They also came inside the house and got a lot of it and carried/loaded, saving back-breaking, heavy work. A half-load was $289; a full load was $489. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. The fact that it's easy to use makes it, well, easy to use....it was easier to let go of things knowing that item A would be donated, item B would be recycled, etc. Plus, no extra HAZMAT fees for things like old fertilizer/lawn chemicals/paint/etc. It's done, over and out of my life. I don't believe all of this stuff would have fit into a single dumpster load - so I don't know what the costs would have been to have it emptied.

To rent a dumpster for 2 weeks for me to do it alone would be almost $600 so this would be very worth it for me. Thank you for sharing the price with me. I may call them next week. Hugs SNM
