This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.) EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

Hey! Look at me! This California gal has never started the Working in Threes thread before! You people in other places are usually up and at 'em before I can hit the snooze button. But since I'm pulling what looking to be an all-nighter before the landlords come and I'm still up, and it's Tuesday... I get to start!
Tadas: - Finished desqualoring living room (will do floors/dusting tomorrow when there's enough light to see) - Folded and put away all clothes from room which used to be office/art room and is now laundry pile and drying room - Put drying racks in garage and swept floor - Saw old mouse poop (from our mini-infestation this winter) in a cupboard, cleaned it out - Threw away trash in above room - Organized DDs coloring books and moved reading books to her bedroom door (didn't want to wake her up, I'll put them on the shelf tomorrow) - Moved DDs easel and smock back into office art room - Cleared mountain of junk off desk in dining room (where it's been sitting since we had people repair the ceiling 4 months ago) - Moved desk back into office/art room - Now have an office/art room again and...drum roll please... 4 clean rooms in my house!
Todos: 1) Eat a snack and drink a diet coke while watching an episode of friends on DVD (as a break/reward) 2) Clean half bath 3) De-squalor downstairs bathroom

Tadas: - Took my break - Cleaned half bath (easy) - Cleaned downstairs bath - hard! and yucky!
Todos: - Sleep - Get self and DD up and out of house in time to stop by Starbucks for coffee and breakfast to go - Get to 8:00 meeting on time!
See you all when I'm back trying to finish!

Good Morning, NeverOpentheClosets!! Wow!! Look at all you've done overnight! I hope you're still snoozing peacefully and get up in time to get that Starbucks, you deserve it! I've just survived my dd's first sleep over!! Yay, me It wasn't as bad as I had imaged. dd's friend is a sweet girl. I'm taking her home about 10 or so. She (and dd!) wants to stay longer, but I've got stuff to do and am just getting use to working in front of dd. I don't think I can handle it in front of a someone else. Tadas: Made bed. Made coffee / tea. Got girls milk. Swish and swipe bathroom, put away first aid kit (dd's friend, fell and scraped her knee last night.) Take some clean clothes from laundry and put away. Decide on what to make for breakfast and make it!

Hey NOTC!! Congrats on the overnight work!! One thing I can't seem to do anymore is all-nighters. And merrrymaid - that is a BIG accomplishment, having dd's friend overnight! My house is not anywhere near the stage where I could let my dd have a friend over. BUT, she does have friends over when she's at her Dad's, so at least she gets to do it. Maybe one day I'll be able to tell her she can invite someone over here too. I'm struggling with fatigue, something which has been bothering me for several weeks now. I've tried various things to improve my energy and nothing has worked. I'm nearly to the point of deciding to go to the doc. Things have to be pretty extreme for me to be willing to go to the doc! This is making it very difficult to get things done around the house, as you can imagine. I figured out by the end of the day yesterday that I have to chose very SMALL things to do for my list of 3's or I get overwhelmed. Even then, I am constantly fighting the urge to lie down on the couch. So, my progress is very slow and I'm pretty discouraged. It's early yet, perhaps today I will find that I have more energy than I've been having and I will be able to accomplish more. I have to go to work for a few hrs this afternoon, but the rest of the day is mine. Tomorrow and Thursday I work ALL DAY, so I hope to be able to make the most of today. To Do: Scoop cat boxes 20 mins on treadmill Shower and dress

Good Morning Carry7on, This is the first time, she's had anyone overnight... and it's only been this last year that she could have friends over for short periods of time. It was a long process, but we got there, and you can too. If you have insurance, go to the doctor right away. It could be anything, and putting it off will only make it worse. Sorry to be an alarmist, but my Mother in law just passed away in March... she'd never had a pap smear, ignored post menopause bleeding, and other symptoms... finally the cancer got so big, it stopped her kidneys from functions and she was taken to the emergency room. By that time it was too late. It's probably nothing like that with you, but it's not worth waiting. Even if you don't have insurance. Go! Sorry... stepping off my soapbox now... Tadas: Swish and swipe bathroom, put away first aid kit (dd's friend, fell and scraped her knee last night.) Emptied kitchen trash and put a new bag in the can. Decide on what to make for breakfast and make it! we had pancakes... kitchen cleaned too.Todos: Take dog out, feed and give fresh water. Get dressed, brush teeth, wash face. Do one thing in the mudroom.

Thanks for your concern merrymaid, and you're right. I did have my mammo this year, but it's been 2 yrs since my last GYN and regular physical exam. I need to call and GO! Making the call is going on my list..........at least for the GYN - I think I owe $$$ to my regular doc, and not sure if they'll see me with an outstanding bill. I will have to sift through a BUNCH of junk mail and see if I can find the envie I got recently from my regular doc that I didn't open. Ta Da! Scooped cat boxes 20 mins on treadmill Showered and dressed To Do: Call GYN and make appnt. Find envie from regular doc Eat some fruit for breakfast

Okay, called and now have GYN appnt. for July 14th!! Found the envie from my Primary care doc, and yes it was a bill..........for $28!!! So..........wrote out the check for that and it's ready to mail........then called and left message for doc's office to call me back with appointment for yearly physical. I already have a dental cleaning appointment for the Fall, so I'm on a roll!! (probably should call them and make sure I'm still on the cancellation call list so I can get in earlier if poss). So here's my Ta Das: Called and made appnt with GYN Found PCP envie and paid bill - called for appnt Ate bowl of cut strawberries and bananas for breakfast Put medicated cream on face and took vites Went down to laundry - discovered that I had a load in washer........from about 5 days ago..........so put that on to run again and get rid of mildewy smell Cleaned up cat hairball puke on futon, washed it off pillows and threw pillows into dryer To Do: Drink at least 8 oz water Check work schedule and make phone calls if necessary Wash dishes in sink Carrie

WTG! All my WIT sibs have made great progress today (and, NOTC, last night, too)! NOTC, I read your tale of bathroom progress. Wow. Fantastic job! Merrymaid, how marvelous that you can have a sleepover at your house. All your hard work is paying off! Dragonchilde, doesn't it feel great to have uninterrupted sleep again? Glad you're keeping on top of those dishes. Syzygy, you must have the happiest cat in the world -- you are so consistent with those scooooops! Bet it feels and smells good to you, too, to stay on top of #1 and #2. Carrie7on, I am so glad you are taking action to get a checkup. There are lots of times when I list just three small things. I like thinking that I am making some progress, or at least working on maintaining the gains I have made. ETA: Bluefrog, you're doing a great job on those morning routines. Glad you could serve as a sounding board for your friend and still spend time on laundry. Today I'll be lucky to maintain gains! I was gifted with a huge amount of apples and a huge amount of some very ripe plums. So I already have some plums simmering for my very first attempt at jelly-making. After I finish posting here I am going to start on my very first batch of apple butter. All very well and good, but a diversion from the creeping clutter monster. TADAs: 1. Up/dressed/meds/made bed 2. Started plums 3. Breakfast TODOs: 1. Put three pieces of visual clutter in the donation box 2. Move box of purchased ahead presents (and items for regifting!) to far corner of bedroom closet 3. label jam and marmalade jars recently made and put away Hope you all are doing well. WestsideStory

Good Afternoon you all We went to the movies on the spur of the moment. There are free ones here, so we just got in the car and went! DD's friend is leaving in 30 minutes, so I'm going to use this time to bag / box up some stuff in the mudroom that can go to the help center. Hi Syzygy, (does your name stand for something? I've been trying to figure i out... but I have a daft brain!) Good going on hand delivering your important form, that way you know it's there. Carry7on, i'm so glad you were able to get an appt and the bill was manageable! Well done with all the other things you have done, especially cleaning up the cat puke. WTG, Bluefrog for getting so much done AND being a good friend. Westside, I LOVE applebutter, I hope you have a good time making it. Sometimes diversions are a necessary. We can't always be cleaning / decluttering, no matter what stage our houses are in. We need breaks. Tadas: Take dog out, feed and give fresh water. Get dressed, brush teeth, wash face. Made lunch and cleaned up the kitchen! Todos: Bag / box up at least 3 things. Get clothes together for dd to take with her to grandma's house. Phone dd's friend's mother to come and collect her! Y'all have a good afternoon. I probably won't be back until late.

I've been trying to get a signature on the form for almost three months, jumping through not just ordinary hoops, but flaming ones. I'm so happy that the form is finally in that it gets its own post! Ta dah * Form finally submitted!!!!! Congrats on all the work done- and I'm always impressed when someone cooks something so "way to go" wss. My cats aren't as happy with my scooping as you might think. Unfortunately, I need to find a way to scoop overnight. One cat will use the litter boxes whether they're clean or dirty- or even have anything in them. The other one wants a pristine box- she left me a "present" overnight registering her dissatisfaction. A syzygy is when three planets line up together. I tend to think of it as anytime that things "line up" or fall into place. It's a fun word to say: siz (with a short i)- i (short i)- gee (with a hard g) and it looks neat.

Syzygy is also a great word for Scrabble. TADAs: 1. 1/3 of #1 2. all of #2 3. all of #3 TODOs: 1. find two more things for charity. 2. unload dishwasher 3. consolidate some things which are hanging out in stacking storage baskets on the floor, and try to see if I can find regular places for them or throw/recycle/freecycle the rest. So far, still working on the first batch of jelly. A couple of years ago I started making presents for the holidays -- tired of commercialization and trying to be more "green" and hoping to save money. So I did up some jams and marmalades and sweet pickles and a chutney. Some people loved them, others were polite, my sister was frank. I've been gifted with fruit from two folks who want more. I put a cucumber plant in one of the containers .... crossing fingers... I am hoping to be able to make dill pickles this year. If I get to Tennessee, merrymaid, I'll bring some apple butter! Well, time to check on the jelly ... WestsideStory
