As I begin this new journey in life I realized that one thing that I need to do is form some new and better habits. Today I read so information that helped me view the implementation of habits in a different way. Here is the site I thought I would share with all of you as I have discovered that part of my squaloing is due to ineffective habits. www.stephanieburns.com/articles/article06_habit.asp

Thanks Roadrunner--many good points, especially about being specific, broken into steps and finding ways to make it easier to remember. On WITs I still list my morning routine as I could get out of the habit--especially making my bed. Walking the dog and AM meds are pretty automatic but I like having tadas to start the day!!

I think that one of the reasons some of us have house-keeping and self-care problems is the DIFFICULTY we have in forming positive habits. I swear that I have to think it out EVERY SINGLE DAY: brush teeth, put cream on hands, take a bath, make the bed. It's easier than it was, but it is NOT automatic. 5+ years of membership here and I STILL have to 'think' about any and all the 'usual' items, like laundry or bed-making.
I have tried for nearly two years to form the habit of brushing my teeth at night: it is not automatic yet. I am successful about 75% of the time. TWO YEARS! and still working away at this..........
I have to think it through EVERY SINGLE MORNING: unload the dishwasher while waiting for the kettle to boil.
I wonder if in fact I have ANY 'automatic pilot' habits at all. I find that posting to ListZilla or my LiveJournal page is the single most helpful thing I do in forming 'good' habits.

Ditto..... things are not automatic for me I am so glad I am not the only one. Sometimes I get so frustrated because I have to make list yet others around me just do it. I just can not understand how they just know to do it.
