This is such a great thread on so many levels. I CHOOSE to do this, a great mindset. Instead of I GOTTA do this, or I SHOULD do this.
Or my greatest nemesis: I PLAN to do this... @#$%& which leads to disappointment in myself.
You win for most laundry done, whew 18 loads! When I lived in a building with a laundry room, I did 12 loads at a time once, had all the machines going like an assembly line. Rode the elevator up and down about 6 times with my cart full. EIGHTEEN is just amazing.

I just had to re-read this for encouragement!
Serendipity, your comments brought tears to my eyes. I'm sure you have lovely hair!! Please take care of it (and one day, if you can, post a picture of it!)
I've just completed my laundry (ok, only 4 loads but it's only me and the cat who makes all the mess) but I've also taken out an old suitcase full of rubbish (not trash, but "stuff", ya know...) and am now working on my second huge trash bag of stuff.
I just love that re-framing the situation in your brain approach! I'm definitely going to see if I can use it at work, too.
Thanks so much, holly!

Wow....that is profound! I am really going to try thinking in terms of me not being a hoarder anymore. I thought it was silly at first, but figured I had nothing to lose & I was desperate. The hardest part is keeping up the new thinking without slipping back into old habits, like putting myself down or feeling guilty or ashamed. Recently I posted about my daughter cleaning out her room and me going through her garbage bag looking for things she may have thrown out that were still "good." After contemplating retrieving 3 broken belts to see if I could maybe fix them & make them work, I stopped myself, closed up the bag, then threw it outside. I did this by reminding myself with my "new" thinking, "Oh yeah, wait a minute. That's something OLD Holly would have done. But since I am now NEW Holly, I don't do those things any more. Huh, what do ya know. NEW Holly just saved me a lot of time and energy! I like this NEW Holly!" No no no .... you don't "need" to purge anything you don't want to. You CHOOSE to purge since you are not a hoarder any more & all that stuff is just in your way now.

You are so right! I don't NEED to purge it. I could easily choose to keep it around and keep dragging tons of dirty clothes every time we move, but I choose not to!

Wow, once again a thread bumped to right where I needed it!. This is a great shift in thinking, so.... I choose to do whatever is required (wash/fold/put away) to clean off the kitchen table and floor of laundry. What a great motivating tool HollyD. Thanks. and congrats on finishining your laundry.
