Wow, that was impressive! The one place in my house that was seriously organized, my bedroom closet---all eight feet of it---and a seven pound orange cat reduced it to chaos. Somehow, she managed to climb from the quilts on the floor to the top shelf and find the EXACT spot that was weak enough that her weight would bring down the shelf, which cascaded boxes onto the closet rod, which broke, collapsing all those neatly organized clothes in piles onto the closet floor. She's fine. I nearly had a heart attack.
DH is out getting new shelving, a closet rod, and better supports. We'll be rebuilding the closet well into the night. Or possibly into tomorrow night. Sheesh.

Oh no! I am glad your kitty came through unscathed, but I'm sorry to hear that your organized closet was messed up. Best of luck to you and DH with the closet rebuild.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be insensitive. I'm just picturing the look on that poor cat's face. Don't think that cat will be climbing in the closet anytime soon. The odds of that happening are nearly astronomical. I'm glad that you are all okay.

Sorry to hear about your closet! I know if it was either one of my cats, they'd probably BOTH be in there right now, giving me a smug look.

Well, that was no fun, but it's rebuilt and mostly reorganized. I filled up a big black trash bag for Goodwill, and kept a variety of things that will probably go in the next closet purge. Quilts and blankets are on the floor; the tent and poles are in the back corner; boxes of stuff I should have gone through but didn't are up on the new shelf; shoes are in the shoe rack, and the clothes are hung by type and color. It feels great to have that done, but DH and I are exhausted. The cat's asleep on the bed.

Happened to us once, had just moved in, DH didn't put the screws into the studs, whole thing went down, my dad said to DH "just use LOTS of screws and make sure you hit the studs. She'll only be gettin MORE clothes!" Glad kitty is OK!

I think this may have happened in SO's closet. Kiki loves to get into the closets, and once I almost left for work with him closed off in mine. Anyway, I opened SO's closet door to hang some things and the entire right-hand side of his organizer was off the wall and clothes all in the floor. Kiki was nowhere to be seen but that does'nt mean anything because he can be very quiet and sneaky. Not 100% certain he did it, but I wouldn't put it past him either BF
