I had a take a temporary night shift position at the post office where I work to get extra hours as us part time people were cut down to 25 hrs. a week and then 20 due to the recession. I think I am getting too old to do that horrible shift from midnight to 8 am. Anyway I have been back on my afternoon shift for a week but still haven't been able to switch over to sleeping at night and being awake during the day. Have just barely started cleaning up as this place is a big mess again due to the night shift work plus tons of overtime hours. I guess I will start in on the chat room challenges again. I was only able to get a clean up done once during these 2 months. Now have had a problem with the fixture in my bathroom - tried to change a bulb and there was some kind of short and the power is out in the bathroom and my bedroom. I flipped the breakers several times but that is not the problem. So I really should call the landlord but obviously have to clean up the place first. Am still exhausted from the shift change etc. and can hardly believe I have backslid this badly when I was keeping up with the cleaning thru the chatroom challenges until about Nov. when I started the night shifts. Anyway will have to start in again I guess, its the only way right?

As Misc said, you never have to start over--you just decide when to continue.
Don't be too hard on yourself. It's hard to desqualor when you're either working or sleeping.

Oh, do come back to chat. There's almost always someone there to challenge with you and appreciate your company, even more so if it's a quiet room at a quiet hour. I know all too well how hard it is to deal with erratic sleep opportunities and how hard it is to do anything while you're readjusting. Even one thing a day helps devour the elephant, though, and chat is a great place to get things done a little at a time.

Try much for the support. I was in the chat room last night and got quite a bit of cleaning done in the basement where I keep my computer and tv. Now I have to get the kitchen done, have an appt. at 2 pm today and then work afternoon shift; hope when I get home that I can start on the dishes. They are all dirty, whole kitchen is a big mess. But thank goodness for this group, don't know where I'd be without it and the supportive members (don't even want to think about it ).

Tough tough tough to switch over yr sleeping habits. Grueling really isn't too heavy a term for it. My son has worked nights for several years and on the rare occassions he gets some days off, he looks like he is walking under water, it is so hard to try and shift his sleep patterns. On the plus side, you have a true excuse for your landlord--you are just coming off shift work. If he is an understanding person, he will cut you some slack
