Hello! i know what that's like -cleaning to 0 then moving then messing it up AGAIN. make sure you schedule friends to come over often, that will help some. try not unpacking some things, maybe you don't need them, or you don't need them all out at the same time? things can rotate 2-4 times a year or so? hug from me, who has squalored up apartments in several countries.

Don't be too hard on yourself--the stuff had to reappear sometime. It's not a setback.

Don't be too hard on yourself ChristineMarieP. If you've only lived in your new house for 2 weeks, you deserve to take a break after the move. Settling in to a new house PLUS a new job is a big change, and you should let yourself relax some and get acclimated to your new surroundings and routines before pushing yourself too hard with the unpacking and organizing. I've always had a lot of bad habits, such as letting bottles and cans, empty ebay boxes, and all sorts of junk accumulate, etc. In the past 6 months though I've broken many of those habits and learned that it really wasn't a big deal to change those old habits, its easy just to go ahead and throw stuff away. If I can do it, anybody can do it! hey, well at least youre realizng it now and not in ten years time. it's cool taht you know the things that kept you in line, so to speak, before. besides working on your habits, i might suggest hiring someone to come help even every two weeks or so. alternatively, have someone invited for weekly sunday lunch or WHATEVER. it sounds like you are motivated, like me, by having others over for whatever reason. so, whether it's cleaning for the cleaning lady or cleaning for friday night drinks or sunday brunch or saturday morning cofee or whatever, maybe a regular schedule of someone seeing your house might help. it does me. good luck. I've been having friends over every week since I finally got my place 'presentable' back around Halloween. Having people over frequently sure inspires me to keep up with the maintenance, such as vacuuming and tidying up the bathroom & kitchen, etc.

yeah I know all about this too . A friend of mine came over from Thailand and I had the place cleaned up pretty well, then this winter had to go on graveyard shift at work to get more hours (was cut down to p/t hours because of the recession). Anyway I felt like a zombie the whole time and didn't get much done around here. Am back on afternoon shift now and am trying to catch up. If it wasn't for the chat group and their 15 minute challenges I don't know where I'd be. Well yes I do, , sitting in the midst of a huge mess. Not that it is perfect now but got quite a bit done yesterday. Once I get going I can keep going for awhile, but can't seem to get going on my own. It is the same when I can afford to get someone over here to help me.
