Yup - usually the night before my annual apartment inspection.

Are you thinking about giving it a try, Success 19? I reckon it could be an interesting thing to do, if you didn't have a scary deadline, and could be geared up with snacks and music and the chance to sleep all of the next day. And no doubt there would be a chatter from the other side of the world to keep you company, especially if you said when you were planning it. Planning is the key, I think.

Yes - I have pulled lots of all-nighters over the years (to prepare for flat inspections and repair people, cramming for exams and pushing through assignments at the last minute). I can go two nights without sleep if I am really desperate.
What helps me through is taking regular breaks, coffee (and drinking water inbetween), SooS chat and playing motivating music (if cleaning), taking a five min 'move to music' break (if studying), quick shower, alternating between tasks.
Well done moving on 50% of your stuff Success. If you do decide to do an allnighter, let us know - one of us is likely to be around and can encourage each other in chat or on the forum.

Honestly I haven't. I've packed stuff at night for moving but that is it.

No-I haven't either. I have worked up until very late at night, but never an all-nighter.

I haven't worked all night at cleaning. I do remember some long long days prior to our big move in 1991 -- trying to get ready for the movers. Thank goodness I've never had to have the inside of my home inspected although I had plenty of slips on base housing because my yard work was not up to par. And I have occasionally cleaned at night up to maybe 8 or 10 pm but mainly I'm the type who does my best work in the morning or before 3 pm usually.

Yes, often. Sometimes the exhaustion seems to help me throw away more. But other times, I just drag more "stuff" out and muddle it around.

Well I kept at it to about 8 am then I took a rest and fell asleep until about 1 pm - but I got alot done - but now my body clock is a bit turned around. I am a nightowl though. I need to haul stuff out to the dumpster - but it is cold so I am procrastinating on that. I listened to music while I worked - Alanis Morrissette! Apartment next to me is empty - so no one can hear me playing music. I really am resisting that last 40% though. My dd and sil asked how much I would be saving and I came up with an idea - if I have too much for them to keep in their place - then after we take it there - I can have them haul it to a storage unit - after I have some money coming in for it. There are no heat controlled units here - so it just won't work here anyway. Also lp records and books won't keep in extreme temps. They don't have the severe weather I have here either. It is at least an option. I think 2 boxes is all they want to store maximum - that would be photos and documents - valuables. And I prob will have them ship off season clothes to me - so that will be temperary. I have quilts made my grandmother and those take up space - and dd doesn't want to use them. I am weeding out stuff as I go and using all my brain power to make it as compact as possible. If they had a garage or attic - I am sure they could store more. I can see they are going to be living in their current place for about 5 years - and I really am not sure I would want to come back here to retrieve anything from storage. So that is another plan that might work - a small storage unit in their area.

i have never pulled an all-nighter for any kind of work or study. i am not capable of it. i have been up all night without any sleep only a handful of times in my whole life (age 61+). i just cannot do it. but.......................... i can and DO get up very early in the morning to do things in crisis situations. in fact, i took on a very important translating job (not moonlighting: how about sunrising?) when i was desperate for money. i got up every day between 4:30 and 5:00 am: to work for a bit before i left for my regular job. i have also set an alarm to wake me up in the middle of the night in order to turn on/off an appliance or move laundry around, but the idea was that i would then go back to sleep, ha ha

Getting up early to do stuff is just wrong.
No once upon a time I had to do the early morning thing - and I did it - but I never felt right.
Now I am a night owl.
But I must change that too.

I've done all nighters under stress of a scary deadline--which I don't recommend to anyone.
If I didn't have to work or take someone to school in the AM, chances are my natural inclination would be to stay on night owl schedule. I have historically enjoyed cleaning from 10pm-2am.
