It was a rerun. Anyhow, Conan and guitarist "Slash" went to a man's house to buy a used guitar. His house was piled with boxes, electronic equipment, all allegedly for sale. All in a very middle class suburban home. You could see nothing but the piles of stuff and "goatpaths", HIs father (an old man) was there too. Conan and Slash then went out to the man's garage, piled high with boxes, from floor to ceiling. They picked out one box, it was an Action Figure of some sort, and they paid him $20 for that. All the while laughing at this man's surroundings. Didn't look dirty or smelly or that bad, just loaded with boxes and boxes of stuff. Made my skin crawl, I wanted to hire a dumpster and help him fill it.

Yes! That guy's stash of stuff was fascinating. All good stuff, neatly organized. Much more interesting than the random piles of Target bags, plastic toys and fast-food detritus featured on Hoarders. Still a lot of stuff! For a guy who was so into guitars, he seemed curiously unaware of who Slash is. Or maybe he's just a very nonchalant guy. It is Hollywood, after all.

i know of a hoarder in my hometown. He owned a chain of successful grocery stores. His "hobby" was collecting motorcycle parts. He had a plan, when he retired, to build motorcycles or sell the parts. He kept the parts in a barn behind his house. He was single, no known family. He died of cancer last spring. When it came time to liquidate his estate, they opened his barn and found it piled high with motorcycles and parts. They estimated he had 1200 parts. But one thing stood out-an original working 1949 Indian Motorcycle. The Gold Standard of bikes. It sold at auction for $20,000, could have gone for even more.
