Found my old photobucket account! According to the date, I made this video with my phone on April 19, 2006, which was a little over a month after the fire. (I think I made a few more of these that are on a CD somewhere.) I don't know...maybe I was trying to keep from crying. I sure did a lot of crying so maybe this is what I needed. I do have a warped sense of humor.

There was a fire at my old flat in November 1990 and I have photos but not a video. Your video reminds me of that difficult time. Wishing you well.

Your continuing on in the face of such devastation, and doing it with humor amid the tears, gives me hope.
Thanks for sharing this.

How horrible for you and your family. I have had two fires -- one in a vacation cabin and one in an outbuilding, but never in my family home. I can only imagine how devastating that must have been. I commend you for keeping on...

Oh, boy....only a month later and your humor was coming through! So nice to have you back with us, Lumi!

It was either laugh or cry, and even after this I did a lot of crying (this was in the middle of the purge). I think we've all been in those situations when crying more just won't help at all, so you gotta find something, anything, to make you smile, even wryly.
I found a couple of my old online photo accounts from pre-fire...wow. Maybe I'll post them here sometime. I sat the other night and looked through them and I was like...woah.

As you can see from my icon, I try to keep a sense of humor about our fire too! We lost everything November 2007 & rebuilt our home (with the same floorplan & everything!) from just the bricks & the concrete. Everything else was gutted. As devastating as that fire was, I feel it was also a rebirth for me. I had a smashmouth lesson in letting go of "things" and appreciating people & life's daily miracles more. The fire changed me for the better. I'm glad you can see a light side to a terrible situation! The positive attitude will serve you well throughout your life.
