Dear folks,
here's my problem: being an expectant mother (6 months pregnant) and having 6 hours per day of solitary, uninterrupted time for myself (my 3yo DD goes to kindergarten), I have lots of thoughts about how to use my time, what best to do, thoughts about finishing furnishing our apartment (5 rooms), rearraging furniture, some cleaning, some cooking, some shopping to do... all these thoughts are flying around my head like butterflies and I can't seem to decide how to organize those thoughts in a way that would be systematic and enable me to see what's first on the list and in which order to start executing the ideas that go through my mind like a meteor shower. I have even listed lots of those things in a notebook, so most of them are on paper.
Some things are sorted according to the room they belong to (that is if I decide to grab one room and try to finish it before moving on to the next room). Then I have another list of things to buy in one colon and things to do in the other colon (if I decide that no matter which order, things have to be done, and crossed over from the list). Then again, what if my hubby and I decide to hit a huge furniture and tool store, I guess it would be handy to have all the items needed to be bought on one paper, so even if I am decorating only one room at this time, I'll be able to remember to check the prices of other needed things as well, even though I'm not buying them at the time.
I am so undecided how to become proactive in finishing nesting, and I have a feeling that I'm wasting this precious free time that is given to me. If you have any good ideas what works for you, please help.

- Your ideas for columns of things is intriguing. I've never been that organized and haven't a clue how to help. I'm mainly writing to say congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm very excited! -

What a fun time for you! Maybe just write one list at the end of the day, things to do tomorrow?
I also find that my personal blog here in SOS keeps me focused. Sometimes I'll bullet-point what I plan to do with my day in the morning while having coffee, then in the evening, modify it to show what I actually did. Not the most exciting blog for others to read, but I love seeing my accomplishments each day. And it's semi-organized.
Remember, time is fluid, so don't be too rigid with your lists. Just jot a few things down you'd like to tackle that day. Allow yourself time to do other things as the need arises. It's an unexpected bullet point on your list of ta-da's.

I have no idea, I'm an unreformed scatterbrain myself, but maybe you should write poetry/or something- "butterfly thoughts" is agreat image/metaphor etc.

I don't go into chat much anymore, but when I do it is so helpful. And it was key to getting me started! You can either follow along with what someone else is doing, or post a question. "I'm wanting to organize the spare bedroom, but wonder if I should wash the breakfast dishes first." You will get so much great feedback, and support.
Congrats on the new little baby on the way. Just such an exciting time for your family!
