I saw one at a department store on clearance for $75. I resisted my urge to buy it.
I currently own a Roomba, (who has gone MIA in the mess.) And a canister vacuum, which really does not work very well at all anymore.
I am seeing some glowing reviews, but I get the feeling that some of it is just brand loyalty, or something. (Is there a Dyson cult?)

if you mean the handheld dyson i read some really negative reviews about it when i was looking at a handheld vac. main complaint was short battery life. i opted to not get the dyson root. maybe when this one dies i'll try picking one up at costco because of their great return policy... but i just couldn't see paying that much for a handheld vacuum that didn't seem to be that much better than less expensive brands. i am curious, maybe the suction on it really is THAT good.. dunno though.
this is coming from someone who IS a member of the dyson cult :}

Some reviewers pointed out that the short battery life is due to the more powerful motor. I do know that if I ever make it to maintenance mode, that my Roomba cannot do everything by itself. (I love that it can get underneath furniture.
I also want a very easy to maintain house. Hard floors, minimum of upholstered items, with machine washable slipcovers.
