I know, I know... y'all are groaning at the thought of fly lady. I have done my share of groaning too! BUT - I have been frozen in inaction. I have done nothing in months. I am still fighting Christmas dishes. And now that I have my arm cast off, I have no more excuses. I am desperate, willing to try anything. Including flylady. Even if it means shining my sink, and putting on shoes. Flylady has her 31 days of beginner steps, found here: flylady.net/pages/begin_babysteps.aspAnyone want to join me? I plan to start tomorrow (Tuesday). Maybe we could start a thread on listzilla and encourage each other? Discuss ways to make some of flylady's crazy insane ideas work for us?

Hi Skatters! I will start with you. I think some of the ideas would be helpful for me and it would be great to have you for a buddy.I got swamped with all the emails, but hey, i can just ignore them! I am glad to here your arm is out of the cast. My foot was partially paralyzed before Christmas and is now fully recovered. My iron was very low and i have had three iron infusions. With the foot combined with low iron and arthritis of the knees , I ground to a halt. After my first iron infusion I had annual inspection. This has totally thrown me for a loop with the place worse than it has ever been. Any day now they will want in again. I am mostly churning , but trying to clear entrance ways and have had the kitchen kept up for a week or so.Now that my iron is up, I think I have the physical stamina to tackle my situation, but i wish i could be approaching it without the pressure. My kitchen has clear counters for the first time for years! I would love to be your flylady buddy, shiny sink and all! Serendipity

Thank you, Seren! I am glad you are feeling better too!
(I haven't signed back up for flylady's emails again - I am just using the link on listed above to get to the 31 steps!)
Yay! I am excited! A partner! Tomorrow I get to shine my sink!! (OMG - did I *really* just type that out?
I will go create a thread in Listzilla now!

Kathy - feel free to join us! I haven't yet signed up for her barrage of daily emails. All I am trying right now, is her 31 days of baby steps! I haven't read each of the 31 days, but from what I gather, it goes from shining the sink to setting up a AM/PM routine. And if you want to join us and create your OWN baby steps, feel free!

My problem with Flylady, aside from the ton of emails that flooded my inbox, was that she's not flexible. Tuesday's the day to do my bathroom. What if I'm not feeling well that day, or have something else scheduled? Then I'd get behind and frustrated that I couldn't keep up. That's why I quit.
What I had to do was figure out a program that worked for ME and was flexible. If I couldn't do the bathroom on Tuesday, fine. If I'm feeling OK on Friday, I'll do the bathroom. Right now Amy and I are doing things on an "as needed" basis. Each room gets a going over. It's always different each time. Amy comes over three days a week. The carpet is vacuumed at least once a week. Dusting is every other week. The bathroom and kitchen are done every time. I know it sounds weird, but it works for us, I think, because of its flexibility. I also know not everyone can do it this way, but it's what works for me.

mrs.mess~ you could start with the one you use the most, kitchen? i am not aiming for shiny, but clean enough that I don't feel the need to soak the cutlery in boiling water and wash the dishes three times!
Hi skatters! I am going to go check out the step for tomorrow, right now it is one moment at a time! Thanks for starting up listzilla. I am hoping that I can check in each day around 1:00p.m., hopefully earlier if i find I don't need my morning sleep.
Hi Kathy~ hoping to see you at listzilla.
Yikes! routine, a scary word but what i need . I want to feel like a well-oiled machine!

Hi Rennie ellen~ I was posting at the same time as you. I never really tried flylady but I balk at routine! I think your brainstorming around what works for you is great. I need flexibility too. but also structure. Hopefully I will find the right balance as you have.

i will try to do it with you. try to summarise what to do each day in case I don't have time to go to her website, ok? I'm familiar with it in general so no long explanation needed. I dont' have internet on weekends.
I knew enough to set up a seperate email account to get all the emails a few years ago, (and to get them ina a daily summary dose, did you all know you can do that? it totalyl solves the problem!) but I was really not up to doing her program then, I was a real hoarder who needed several years of my own emotional letting go baby steps first.
but, I did benefit from her SHOES thing. I wear non lace up shoes, and they are not shoes that go outside (dirt) but it realyl really make cleaning hurt my body less. for some reason I always get stiff and sore from cleaning. (yet not my 45 minute each way commute by bike to work!) also the fling boogie things I have used effectively at times.
I'm so not a religious person but her views have never bothered me in the least, I don't feel she is trying to convert me at all. I appreciate her free service.

I joined Flylady once but got overwhelmed and couldn't keep up. I ihave health issues and depression. i might re-join. One of her mantras is "jump in where you are. You are never behind." That's optimistic.

I am going to join up also. Now that I have a reliable Internet in the house.
I think that a person could set up their own reminder system using 43 things.
One thing I DID learn from Flylady in the past was to not "save" emails!
