hi all. i'm doing great. been way to busy to be online all day. i've cut online time down to about an hour in the morning where i get organized, plan my day, check for appointments, and catch up with friends, then about an hour at the end of the day to plan ahead for the next day and chat with friends. housecleaning is going well. i'm eliminating my storage shed so once or twice a week i bring a carload home and throughout the week i integrate the stuff into my home or get rid of it. gave away three big bags of clothes to a charity today - felt great! i'm generating too much recylcing to fit in the bins so i'm separating out paper because there are big dumpsters by the grocery store specifically for that for a local charity. it's great to have things around i had hidden away from myself and to use things i own and not just feel like they're sucking away my money sitting in a shed. and i started my novel. ! yup, i'm writing 5 out of seven days at least and have been for about a month. tear-jerker romance. i'm keeping up with the daily housekeeping. instead of leaving dishes in the sink they go in the washer. same with clothes. when full i turn it on. i have a card system i use with different areas written down and i set a timer for 15 minutes and work that area. spend about an hour on housework a day. little by little it gets more organized and stays clean. i sleep in my bed which gets made EVERY DAY. wow. i have to thank you guys. even tho i haven't been here, you've been on my mind. i learned things here that really helped and that i keep in mind regularly. so thank you. so, there's my life, in case anyone was wondering...

Excellent you sound highly motivated and organized. Writing that much is very disciplined. Maybe you can share it in our Artist Way thread soon!

"putting the dishes in the washer- same with the clothes?" Now that is an idea!" ( I dont recommmend it- did it once= put extra dishes in the washer to soak and then forgot and threw some clothes in. I had put all plastic in there and they came out all squished. But--I was much more willing to toss the containers when they were all flat and ruined. ) Know you didnt mean it that way but it gave me a chuckle. Anyone remember the episode of I love Lucy where she was doing her laundry and dishes together? Good for you for working so hard on your house and also CONGRATS on working on your Novel! Bizzy

thanks for the cheers took two more bags of clothes to the curb today, another charity was collecting. that felt good. but it's so hard to sort through these things. clothes especially have an emotional attachment for me. in sorting out clothes i came across all my maternity clothes in one bag. and cried. my son is 10. i've never been happier than when i was pregnant. that's the thought. but in reality, i'm very happy now. and now is all we really have, right? i have my storage down to where i can switch to a much smaller shed. from the biggest they have to the smallest! will save me money. however, i can save more if i can just find a place to stash the rest, and have a friend i'll be seeing about that tonight. the rate i'm going through stuff, it won't sit in his spare bedroom long. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NEVER GETTING A STORAGE SHED.

I still have the robe I wore in the hospital when dd was born - she is in her mid 20s! though it is going to be tossed when I go overseas. I agree - the internet and tv can suck up our time - now that I have less channels I get more done for sure. And I am forcing myself to use the internet less for fun - though I need to use it to job hunt of course. Yes get rid of that storage shed - so much money that can be used for other things - maybe for something fun!

Hi all! I've had a rough few weeks. I had an emergency appendectomy May 6th and am just now feeling more like myself again. Of course in that time the house has gone from barely tolerable to complete disaster area. But I shall not be discouraged. A little at a time and I'll get great results. I use my timer. Have been really frustrated i didn't have the energy to do more; especially writing! But I'm back in the saddle again. Thanks to all of ya'll for reminding me I'm not alone!!!

Dear Mickey,
Ouch! I'm so sorry this happened!
You are right, though. You have got good habits in place, you have gotten rid of a lot of stuff, you will be able to jump back in and get things under control quickly.
I hope you continue to feel better and better.

I'm glad you are recovering! Just think of it this way - the clean house you had a few weeks ago is still there, it's just underneath a few things right now. You will be able to find it!

Glad to hear that you are feeling better. I don't think I ever read your original thread, so wanted to say CONGRATS on getting to maintenance. That's fantastic! I'm sure you'll get everything back to where it was before you had surgery. Sending you lots of energy and good health!
