I live in a townhouse and the one next door has a hole where critters have gotten into the walls. It is a rental (I own mine) and I guess the owners just don't care because they still haven't done anything about it. I don't know if the people who live there have said anything or not, but we have, several times. It is annoying as heck and dangerous, because they can chew on wiring and stuff. A house down the street actually caught fire that way. I swear, my house had better not burn down because of THEIR negligence!!
Good luck with your situation, btt, and hopefully your landlord will get that fixed pronto!

I had a squirrel or rodent in my attic last year around this time. It was pretty noisy, and another neighbor complained about it, so the maintenance man had to set some traps in the attic. He had to come into my apt. to do that, and at the time my place was a huge mess. The maintenance man must've reported that back to the apt. manager, because they inspected my apt. before renewing my lease last summer.
I probably never would've cleaned up my place to the degree it is now if not for that inspection. Although it caused me a lot of grief and stress at the time, that inspection was one of the best things that happened to me in a long time! Its great to be able to have guests over again.
So looking back, here's a big thanks to the critter that was living in my attic last spring! Funny how things work out sometimes, isn't it?

I am pretty good with letting people in here...it is not too bad here....there is a doom room called computer room/2nd bedroom.....it is packed with stuff strewn about...but it is not trash it is junk....it can be tackled....then the basement is a mess too...but since I gave up the torn up furniture from Shredder Shep I have less squalor on floors from shredded furniture guts....nice....the living room is a lot of open area now and makes it easier to see that the carpet needs replacement...shep did tear the carpet in the small hallway....bedroom carpet is very old and dirty looking but mostly covered by my bed and furniture....would still want those three rooms to get new carpet from owner....If I have to pay for it and take it off rent I could manage that too....

the landlord called last evening as he has found a trap to put in attic to catch the squirrel, I also spoke to him about getting him to inspect the house for damages so I can get new carpets...I asked for new carpets last summer and he said he had to inspect the house for damages while I was in state of depression and not willing to have him come in and look around....now I am at least ready even if I will not be excited by what he has to see....the kitchen is bad and the 2nd bedroom is a doom room but it is okay for him to see those...I am more worried about the carpet that the dog has chewed and torn up that is in my small hallway....there are three rooms with carpet the living room, bedroom and small hallway...I want all three to get new carpet as they were old when I moved in here 11yrs ago and now they are antique....but I may have to pray that the landlord will allow the replacement of carpet since dog tore carpet in hallway...I might offer to pay for that one as he will then pay for the other two rooms....if that helps get the carpet I will do it because it is more the installation that will cost money unless we can get in on free installation sale somewhere....if so that little room will just cost for the carpet and no more than that....will not be over $100 for that small area no matter what carpet I choose....
