Does anyone here have any experience with carpenter bees? We have a couple of holes where they've bored into the house. Some sites say spray. Some say spray and seal. Some say just seal.
Help?

I've never dealt with this problem, but it seems to me that spraying will kill the ones that have already gotten in, and sealing will keep more from coming in.

I agree with MessyMimi; I'd do both just in case. I watched an episode of Billy The Exterminator about bees (don't recall if they were carpenter bees, though), and, in addition to spraying, he also vacuumed some up as a way of capturing and later disposing of them.

Not sure if they're the same type, but my neighbour had bees or hornets or wasps that were boring into the mortar between the bricks of the house.
In his case, he had to do both things to make sure they didn't bore right into the house, and also, to ensure that it would stop the damage that they were doing to the exterior of the house.
Shortly after, he put the house for sale, and I always wondered if he had completely fixed the problem, or had even told the new owners.

Mr. MiSC sprayed a ton of bug killer in the two holes last night. Maybe that will work. He's going to seal it up today.
Thanks for the responses!

We had bees make a nest in a car we stored in our driveway. I opened the door after it had sat all winter, they awarmed me and I ran away. DH was brave. He put on long seeves and re-entered the car armed with a can of Flying Insect Raid. He got most of them, DD (to whom we gave the car) later cleaned up the mess-bee carcasses and mud nests, and the car was HERS.
