this weekend is the first time I am getting out there with intent of cutting grass again this year. I will be going over to my Mom's to borrow her mower as mine went Junk last year at beginning of year so last year I borrowed her mower all year long. This year I had high hope of buying a new mower but financially I cannot commit that error. I did buy a gift for my Mom today while getting dog food at Walmart. I got a clipper for something like rose bushes? Hers I borrowed last year and noticed that she must have tried to cut some metal bushes there were big knocks out of the blade where it had encountered something so strong that it bent the blade....several places....she must have been using them on plumbing anyway I decided to get her a new pair of clippers for her gardening needs. I still have her old ones in my van....that was my motivation...replace them with better than what I borrowed. She should enjoy these as she has gardening in her blood for going out and getting stuff clipped up and pretty. hugs btt

I know I've used my secateurs for tasks other than the expected, they make a passable substitue for tin snips, and will hack through stuff that kitchen scissors baulk at. Unfortunately not quite up to the job as bolt cutters, that's what did for the last pair I had. Possibly your mom has been using them as the all round handy tool that they are.

more likely my nephew's were responsible for their destruction...they are careless with everything.
I got the mower and gave Mom the snippers but she had a pair exactly like what I got her hidden from my nephews in a drawer in the kitchen where they would never look....haha she knows what she is doing...so I am keeping the ones I bought for me...I was going to keep the bad pair but now that these are paid for and brand new I will toss that pair.
I decided at walmart to buy chainsaw bar oil for my two chainsaws which the basic little electric one was dry on bar oil which lubricates the chain as it runs around the bar. I filled the resevior and I loosened the chain a tiny bit so it will move more freely and went outside with the chord attached and cut the big branches I had left for my burning wood pile in back yard...I have a fire pit but these branches were way too big for the pit and to hard to brake into smaller sizes so they needed chain sawing....done deal I am ready for some kindling wood sticks from picking up the yard and will make myself a nice little fire one of these cool spring evenings or better yet when I come home from work at 4am and it is full moon and nicely cool for a good little warming fire....did that with all the smaller stuff a month ago...
so I got the mower and it is still in back end of Van...when I decide to get out of bed later today after my daily sleep since I work nights I will either cut the back yard first or just drag it out of van and into garage and make sure it starts for tomorrow afternoon....yeay on stuff I got done today already as I now need my beauty sleep for the day.....hugs btt

#wtg# BTT!
I found some quotes about lawns and lawnmowing I thought you might enjoy:
I always thought a yard was three feet, then I started mowing the lawn. ~C.E. Cowman
I enjoy mowing the lawn, it relaxes me. It gets me outdoors, it's good exercise, the freshly cut grass smells great, and the engine is loud enough that I'm sure no one else can hear my thoughts - or intrude upon them. ~Astrid Alauda
When you use a manual push mower, you're "cutting" down on pollution and the only thing in danger of running out of gas is you! ~Grey Livingston
God made rainy days so gardeners could get the housework done. ~Anon.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark

knees hurt so badly yesterday that I did not challenge them again today to cut the back yard. I spent all day in bed sleeping. I want to try to cut the back yard tomorrow Monday...but I may just return my Mom's mower to her garage tomorrow instead. I just might have to pay those kids who want $25 to cut my grass to save me from knee pains. I do not have that in my budget though. uffda!

talked a friend who is unemployed into cutting my grass for me for $20 with my Mom's mower since he does not have one. I am not going to be in pain except the wallet for getting the grass cut!

change of plans....going to use the kids who will use their own mowers and charge me $25....my mom did decide that was better than using her mower and possibly ruining it....really ran all kinds of options thru my head this one is best...kids come with their mowers and I am sure they will come when I need them.....no problems!

now my mom has asked for him to come estimate how much he would charge to do her lawn which is lots bigger than mine...my nephew has a bit of a resistance to cutting the lawn for my mom.....he said last time he was there to his mom "isn't it about time she got a lawn service?" so mom is making the break from him if she can...which is going to hit him in the wallet because she paid him for cutting the grass....and he is a smoker who consumes money with every puff....maybe his not cutting grass will be good for him too.,...I just hope the best for both of them....hugs btt
