We are all home again for Spring Break this week. Making yet another attempt at getting the house cleaned up. My 7yr old has been having some issues at shool and I know the household chaos makes it worse. The goal is to get all the laundry caught up, put away the majority of winter type clothes, small clothes in goodwill bags. Outfits for littlers on hangers and in the closets and dressers This will make for TONS less upset in the mornings when school starts back up.....I hope.. So far only getting cooperation from son #2. I will have to resort to the "You wanted to do what on vacation this week???Oh first I will need help with this..." method of motivation I guess

Thanks for the cheers!! We went out to dinner with my parents who then invited us back over to their house afterwards. I declined, as when we do that we just sit around all afternoon and watch tv. Came back home and tossed another load of laundry in, had boys collect all the empty hangers. Son #1 went out to mow the lawn.

It's great that you knew when to say, no, thank you.
Kids' cooperation can be tough to get, especially if they see no end in sight. Sometimes using a timer, getting them to help for X amount of time, then they get X amount of time to do what they want, helps tremendously.
You can do this!

Some progress..not as much as I wanted. I still have not attacked the dishes yet. I HATE doing dishes. I was sitting on the couch staring at the empty Easter baskets sitting on the window seat (yes they are still out). I kept telling myself I needed to get a bag to dump all that grass in to put away for next year. So I finally grabbed a bag and started stuffing it with the grass.....BaNG....EASTER GRASS IS ONE OF THE CHEAPEST THINGS ON EARTH....why am I saving it? ?? Tossed it right out and stacked up the baskets. I do not know why I think I need to save, reuse, store away EVERYTHING just in case I might possibly need it again some day (year). I mean really, saving Easter grass????Sometimes I think I need to sit down with myself and ask WHY do I have this?

HFH, I understand. I really do. You have made an amazing revelation, and knowing is half the battle (so they say, haha!). Just keep at it. You can do it!

OMG LOTS OF STUFF DONE!!!!
I went in to start doing dishes and asked my 15 yr old to wipe off the fridge shelves. He took everything out and tossed nasty stuff, handed me the occasional shelf to wash, and chisled and Magic Erasered the ENTIRE REFRIGERATOR!!!!
#2 son started cleaning out the laundry room, swept and cleaned out the cat box. He even took it outside and hosed it out.
I have a load of snow pants in the dryer to give or pack away, a load of shirts in the washer and 4 baskets of CLEAN laundry in the living room to sort. This is the next thing.
The teens are outside for a football break and I think me and the other kids will plow through these baskets as they were on the computer whilst we were doing the kitchen and laundry room. Back to work!!!

Well.....we got to the BOTTOM of the pile in the laundry room and all that was left was an old carryon suitcase we just kept pushing around. Since everything else was done, I opened it this morning and the contents were clothes my kids wore when we went to visit my brother in Nevada......SIX YEARS AGO. They were actually clean, and I had bought them new for the trip so I tossed them in the washer and then they will go into the goodwill bag.

Some of the hoodlums need haircuts today, so not sure what else we will do. I will probably get conned into taking them somewhere else. I really want to get some yard work done too while it is not rainy.
