I think we can all agree that the ONLY WAY to find something that is lost is to replace it (GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR). I somehow misplaced my debit card over the weekend. I was pretty sure it was somewhere in my car (that I'd been too casual about putting it back in my purse after going through a drive-through), but I checked the car and my purse really thoroughly. So I cancelled the card Monday morning, knowing I'd find the card as soon as I cancelled it. And, sure enough, Monday evening, as soon as I got into the car, I reached for my seat belt and saw the edge of the card, down in the trough around the emergency brake. It never fails!! As a postscript, in addition to having no debit card for ten days 'til the replacement comes, I discovered that I have no checks!  Anyway, nothing that needs a response, I just wanted to comment on that phenomenon that it never fails that if you want to find something, replace it! 'Night, all. Laura |

Dear Laura, There is a corollary to this universal law. If you find a funny looking object that you know is a part to *something*, but you can't figure out what part it could possibly be or what it could go to, the rest of the object will turn up as soon as you throw away that part.  messymimi |

You know, I lost my driver's license recently and delayed paying the $20 to replace it because I was sure it was somewhere ...... after paying the $20 I thought it would show up, but so far it hasn't!! Here's another one: You toss a stray sock that you've lost the mate for. Somehow the mate to it appears in the next load you take out of the dryer!!  Carrie |

I know exactly what you mean Laura. Two weeks ago I lost my driver's license, and found it TWO days after I paid $20.00 to replace it!!!!! The other rules about the parts, socks, and stuff always seemed to happen to me as well.  What is worse, is that the older I get the more I'm apt to lose stuff!  3g is me |

Keys. Lost a whole set of keys, car and house keys on a nice chain. I always feel I MUST have 2 sets of all these keys.
So, took the one set I still had, and had new ones made. OK now i have my TWO sets of keys.
About a month later, took a sweater out of the closet that's been there since last fall, haven't worn it in a while.
Yes, there in the pocket were the "missing keys". So now ohboy I have THREE sets.
Have a little basket on endtable by the front stairs. The keys willl be deposited T H E R E when I'm not using them. okay....make that a habit.

The other one is earrings. Lose an earring, hold onto the single earring for a year hoping the other one will turn up (having of course already torn the house apart looking for it). Finally decide to pitch it....and....well.....you know the rest...

Oh! The earrings one has definitely happened to me many times! However, I've been better abt not losing earrings the past year or so. I bought a few of those plastic boxes with loads of little compartments in them ........ for crafters who use beads or make jewelry. Took the lids off them and put them inside my top dresser drawer. I have one or two pairs of earrings in each compartment so I can see them easily. I make sure I take my earrings OFF as soon as I get home from work, or wherever for the day, and drop them back into their little compartment. I haven't lost any earrings in quite a while now!
