My dear mother was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance on Wednesday. She had already had chest x-ray and ECG from family doctor. She appears to have had a mild heart attack. My world has been turned upside down.
BUT.....my home-care routines are truly saving my sanity. I cannot be at the hospital all the time; company wears her out. She needs to have time to sleep and recover. Doctors' orders.....
When (I refuse to say "if"), she comes home, she will need care. I have to budget my energy for that day. So......I continue to keep on keeping on, treasuring my hard-won day-to-day routines that are a true distraction and consolation:
*swish & swipe in bathroom *doing laundry *swiping kitchen sink *setting table for supper *making bed *open/toss/file mail *and etc
thank you dear friends for helping me to LEARN routines that are coming in very handy TODAY, not just for home care, but for mental health preservation.
off to gym soon; I packed my lunch, then will take subway to hospital.

oh my goodness, so sorry to hear about your dear mom, sending good thoughts and prayers up so that she has a speedy recovery. I wholeheartedly agree with you, in times of crisis getting busy with housework is the best way to get all that energy out. hugs~

Dear Script, I'm sorry your mom is having this trouble - and I pray she will recover well. I'm glad you're finding comfort in routines -- I too have often found solace in house/self care routines during times like these with my husbands parents illness'. I'll be keeping you and your mom in positive thought/prayer.

Script
I'm sorry to learn of your Mother's hospitalization. I am wishing her a speedy recovery.
And I am glad you are finding comfort in routine housekeeping. Who'd have thought we Messies could ever find solace in what we used to dread and avoid.
Thinking of you during this difficult time.

Script I hope that your mother recovers completely and that you maintain your sanity. When she comes home, you will need the energy to care for her as well as yourself. Keep those routines going, it will be a good distraction and stress reliever for you. Caring for an ill parent is always so hard to do. You and your mother are in my prayers.

Dear Script,
This is a timely lesson. When we have the basics down, dealing with these sorts of things is made that much less onerous.
You and your mother will be in my prayers.
