I decided it was time to change my name. I am not the same MessyShellby who joined here so many moons ago. It is time to reflect that in my name. So now I am notsomessyshell. Someday I wish to be Notmessyshell. Work in progress. I decided this tonight when I was finishing the kitchen. Some things are coming automatically. Some I still have problems with. But the very fact that I had to wipe off all the counters and run the dishwasher before bed even though I am wiped out. Been up since 6:00am. Worked 8 1/2 hours. Took care of mom. Here it is 10:30 and I am cleaning my kitchen! Yikes who am I?

I'm always over the moon when I see one of "us" change our name to something more empowering. I hate that we rope ourselves in with such negative monikers. Your new look is FAB!

I hate that we rope ourselves in with such negative monikers. Your new look is FAB! Totally agree. Down with negative monikers. Many times our SOS name reflects who we think we are. Not who we really are. Remember: We are not our squalor. We are brave men and women who have chosen to step up and out of that place. One step at a time. Names are empowering and help immensely in this journey. Shell =>

Thank you! Today I got a pretty good compliment from Oldest. Our a/c is not functioning and we are waiting for the repair man. (Good to just call and not freak out over them coming in, too) I went into the kitchen and emptied the dishwasher and wiped off the stove from making eggs for breakfast. He said he admired my commitment to keep going with my schedule even in the heat. I have to say it was just habit! I wiped off the stove without even really thinking about what I was doing, without thinking about how hot it is in there. Yep not so messy anymore. In the old house I am sure I would have just left the dishes. Let's be honest I would have left the plate in my bedroom where I was eating!

Congratulations on your new name, Shell. You must be so pleased with the 'new you'. The one that is compelled to clean up the kitchen before going to bed. I am the same with the kitchen. Since getting mine done, I have to wash dishes and leave all the work tops clean and tidy for the morning. I look forward to the day when I have finished every room and the mindset that exists for the kitchen, is there for the whole house. You have inspired me. Maybe one day I will be just 'London'

Yeah! for name change. I'm all for positive, or at least neutral, screen names. And fantastic story about your changes becoming a habit that neither heat nor no a/c nor other things life throws you become a habit. You inspired me to make sure I wash the breakfast dishes today. WestsideStory
