So I'm very open. I'm Melissa, I live in Indiana. I have 3 daughters. In 2007 we lost our last born child at 23 days old. Needless to say our Squalor started with this. I've been told if there was an excuse at all under the sun for squalor that the loss of a child would be it. Heck half the time I forgot to eat in the first months, let alone clean About 4 months ago I started super cleaning and decluttering. And then 2 months ago I started a weekly housekeeping schedule. My home has been mostly clean for 4 months and really well kept for 2. On August 13th I'm starting homeschooling my eldest daughter Freja who's 4.5. SO with a homeschool AND weekly cleaning schedule I will NOT let the house get bad again

Welcome aboard, Melissa. I am so sorry you lost your last born. I just don't have adequate words to express it. You are very strong and very brave, and I admire your spirit. It is awesome that you have been super cleaning and decluttering. You inspire me to try harder.

I am so sorry to hear about your baby, I can not imagine that type of pain. I will be homeschooling my 4.5 year old this year too! Congrats on getting your house clean!

woohoo Molly! Can I ask what curriculum you are using for your 4.5 year old?

We going to do the Enki K curriculum this year. At this point, it's a trial run... the plan was to do one year of homeschooling and then send her to public school (kindergarten) next year (she missed out on k this year due to her birthday being a few weeks after the cutoff). We'll see how it goes though.

Welcome, squalorwallow. My condolences for the loss of your precious child. I lost my third (of 5), but I was messy before that and am now getting better. I also homeschool, though only 2 of the 4 now (eldest two are in private school). The fact that you are at a maintenance level is an inspiration and I'm looking forward to reading your contributions to this board. messymimi

Hello. I am sorry for the loss of your babe, my friend lost one of twins a few days old, so I can understand a little of what you went/are going through. Wow, all that super-cleaning, what an inspiration you are! I never home schooled, I couldn't imagine myself doing that, I was always glad to see mine go through the school gate, I am honest enough to say.
