I joined a few months ago when SS moved and I thought I'd introduced myself but found I haven't. I'm ivorytower - I found the SS site very helpful and I've made some progress. I'm now at a point where I feel i can cope with letting repairpeople in and the problems that seemed so huge are getting smaller. My place has been at level 2 everwhere and it was a nightmare - I'd freeze in fear if anyone knocked at the door and often had to collect parcels from the sorting office because I wouldn't open the door to the posteman, even though the entrance hall has always been clear.
SS helped me to get things things into perspective and now that I've got my kitchen and living room at level 0 again the huge problems have grown smaller and I can finally accept the idea of someone coming in to do repairs. It helps that I'm not a hoarder and once I'd got rid of accummulated clutter it didn't reappear. My plan was to declutter, then thoroughly clean everwhere, then decorate and finally arrange for repairs. I've found that decluttering and some real progress with cleaning has helped me to see that repairs are more important than completing all the decorating.

WELCOME Ivorytower! It's great that you can let repair people in now! And yes, you're right, having repairs done is more important than decorating your house - in fact, repairing something might have destroyed part of what you decorated so it really is the better choice! Glad you're here!

It is inspiring to hear your story. I am working on getting things to a level where I can have my landlord come in and fix some things that need fixed badly. Thanks for sharing and giving me hope!!
