he went peacefully of alzheimer's related issues after five yr nursing home stay. My mom and dad had been married 67yrs. She mentioned that fact the other day and her voice cracked a bit...she misses him greatly....hugs lucky that I am named the third in family with his same name...

Lucky, I missed this last year, probably because I was on the road and reading here minimally at the time. Please accept my belated condolences. The anniversary of my father's passing is coming up next month, but I am also beginning to feel the impact of the event. Visiting the Oklahoma City memorial yesterday may have been a part of that, but I also tend to feel these things during certain anniversaries.
Your parents certainly were married a very long time. Mine were only married 49 years before my mom's death. I am sure your mom mourns his passing with a depth we can only imagine.

Hi Lucky---I get you. My DH will be gone a year on Thanksgiving Day & I am getting very aware of this. I think I have come a long way in a little over 10 months, but it still hurts deeply. We were married 55 & 1/2 years.
Be good to yourself & your Mom ---I know you are ---especially at this time. Blessings, catcat

thanks everyone...I did not see mom today as I slept all morning got up at two and got to work on my clearing of clutter for the party tomorrow at three...I did call and mom was not home I left message to see if she had gone to cemetery, I called later and she was home...she had lunch with my sister today and when I asked if they went by the cemetery she said they were almost home and had gone a different way and forgot...she said she would go saturday..she said her new placement of flowers was done last week and she thanked me for offering to take her there.
I am sure the timing GOD is using with my party is great for all of us to come together and get on with our lives....I did not even plan on it coinciding with the anniversary to have my housewarming it has just been GOD doing what he knows is right.
thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
hugs lucky

My sympathies, Lucky. Both my parents have Alzheimer's and I know what a cruel disease it is. Much love to you and your family.
