I now have computer access here yeah!! Today I also brought home my new iguana. If you have ever seen the Mask of Zorro you will know what this little guy can do with his tail. He popped the guy helping me load him three or four times with his whip like tail. This is why I named him Antonio(the lizard, not the guy helping me). He is just wonderful in a lizard sort of way just like Antonio Banderas is hot in a Zorro sort of way. It's nice to be home and the "Mother of all Hurricanes" didn't even bring us a good rain. I've seen worse in February.

Oh my gosh, my brother use to have two iguanas. They were a male and a female named Mortica and Gomez. They were about four foot long including those wicked tails and they roamed free in their house. They had a nice big cage, but preferred laying on top of each other behind the fridge. These characters loved company and when anyone came over, out they came. They would crawl up on the couch and lay across the back, hitting you in the head with their tails.
Needless to say, I didn't visit too much. They did ask me to babysit once, and after the kids were in bed, and all was quiet, I dozed off on the couch. I woke up when both of them jumped on my lap. I screamed, the oldest kid, Kris, comes out of his room with his brother and they each pick one up. I ask if they are going to put them in their cage and lock the door, and Kris tells me "Naww, we will just take them to bed with us".
My brother called one day and said he had some bad news, Gomez had an infection in his private parts, and I do mean parts. According to my brother, male iguanas have two male parts, and sadly, Gomez lost both of his. A little surgery was done and Gomez was fine, he just wasn't "all man" anymore. The next day he called and told us they had found poor Mortica dead that morning. The jokes we made about that! That evening they dug a long skinny hole out back and buried her.
Gomez lived for years after that, soaking in the bathtub - no bubbles, please - the heat rock all to himself, tons of room behind the fridge, still greeting company, but he always had this sad look on his scaly face. I could never figure out if he was sad about Mortica being gone, or if he sensed something was a wee bit different about his self.

Welcome to Antonio. I bet he is a beauty. And to celebrate being back on-line, I posted pix for you of an Australian Goanna. Early settlers thought they were Iguanas, hence 'Goanna', but they are actually Monitors. They can grow to 6 feet long. http:// www.kidcyber.com.au/topics/goanna.htm

Antonio is a juvenille iguana. His body is about six inches long but his tail is about 12 inches. He was not a happy camper today as he does not seem to like his new digs. He was terrified of me, didn't want to eat but seemed to enjoy lying in the sun and watching the birds eat the dates off of the date palm outside. We'll have better days.
