Sorry I haven't been around as much. My ten days of "vacation" are over, and I've been back at work since Saturday (12-hour weekend shifts, yay. Only, y'know, not.) with much less time to devote to being online if I want to get anything done at home. The unpacking has slowed to a crawl. I'm probably going to come into chat tonight in order to find the motivation to get all my clothes put away. There are two and a half boxes of those left, and I know that once I get going it'll be fine. I love chat for keeping me honest. I bought food today! I put it in my new refrigerator and everything! I still have some of my groceries to put away, but at least the perishables are dealt with. I had to replace ALL of my grain products: when I moved, I discovered that everything that was not in plastic or glass containers was full of icky tiny brown bugs. Eww! Not weevils (I've had weevils), but icky bugs nonetheless. Now, I have no objection to insects per se. I think they are lovely and proof of a healthy ecosystem. I don't want the aforementioned healthy ecosystem in my bag of flour, thankyouverymuch! So out went all my flour, rice, pasta, etc. Today I bought more, and a bunch of plastic pots into which it will all get transferred. What a pain! Still, it'll be worth it in the long run, I just know it. The next step is to go back to the old apartment and to retrieve all my condiments and things from the old fridge. I'm also awaiting a call from the guy at Home Depot to come and quote the price of a new floor in the old apartment. I'm starting to have serious anxiety dreams about that floor, so I hope that we can stop playing phone tag soon and just get it done. Otherwise, I am chugging along. I got all my curtains put up, my kitchen is 90% organized, and all that's really left is the living room (Augh!) and my bedroom (clothes and linens). I'm still pleased as punch about the whole move, and the icing on the cake is that I may actually have found a great gal to go out with/date/etc. Details on that as events warrant, more likely in Byways since it's not directly relevant to squalor (only inasmuch as I have shown her my apartment already, because it wasn't squalorous and smelling of cat pee!). How's everyone else doing? ~Mouse

I'm doing okay. My dad is staying with us for as long as he wishes to and it turns out that he is a compulsive cleaner. So now I am really motivated to keep going.
The sink and stove are shiny now. And almost all of those "impossible to remove bathtub stains" are totally gone thanks to dad.
Did I mention he is 81?
