My friend Ryan stopped by for a drink after work today (yes, I can invite people over!! So long as I keep them from looking in the kitchen ... anyway, he walked in the door, looked around, & said (with genuine astonishment) "WOW ... it's STILL CLEAN!" then he put his arms around me & said "I am SO PROUD OF YOU!!" big dork that I am, I started to cry. it was a good day.

Lovely moment, especially because of his loving hug and telling you he's proud.
When I read the first part ("WOW ... it's STILL CLEAN!") I felt disturbed, because in my experience such a comment is intended to point out my failings, express shock that I was able to keep it together as long as I have, and imply that it can't possibly last. It's usually followed by an additional dig.
So it made me feel good to realize that that was NOT the situation in this case, that your friend was actually being appreciative and supportive. What a blessing!

Awesome! May I suggest that you put this in your signature line? My siggy line used to say what my son said when his friend came over...."My house used to be full of junk." Used to be! It really continued to inspire me when I would begin to think that I hadn't achieved much. Yes, I have! And so have you.
Yay, Ryan, and w00t w00t Zeeky!
